It was an honor and a pleasure to host Grandmaster Joe Moreira at our club once again. 9 hours of training in total, 2 new 4th degree black belts, and lots of new knowledge to soak up and study.
A few things that stood out above everything were the GM Joe Moreira principles that simplify the "game" of Jiu-Jitsu, so that you have a guiding compass in all situations. His emphasis on valuing and teaching principles and techniques that a small 110lb female, or someone older and frail, can successfully do to GM Joe himself is incredibly important to him. He made it quite clear that if you can't do it on someone bigger, it's not Jiu-Jitsu. Maybe sport, but not BJJ. No matter how gifted and successful you are in your competitions, if you let your ego get you in trouble, or go looking for trouble, you're not practicing Jiu-Jitsu.
BJJ is a way of life, to take care of yourself both inside and out, and to take care of those you love. Be a better version of yourself, and you'll make the world around you a better, safer place.
It was a pleasure Grandmaster Joe 🙏
