In this session, I’m sharing a customized pre show warm up I’ve built for a client.

We want to hit all 3 phases of a vocal warm up for singers prepping for a rehearsal session, or performance or gig.

This is quick, effective and will guide you through my key 3 pillars of warming up, SOVTs, Resonance, and Range. Plus help you understand how to build your own vocal warm up and why you should (or shouldn’t) choose certain exercises.

Guest Coach Announcement for Invermere 2027!

After receiving overwhelming feedback from last years retreat that guests wanted “more time with Bonnie!” we are thrilled to have Bonnie Baker back as our songwriting coach and mentor.

Bonnie Baker is a Nashville based hit songwriter & publisher. She studied creative writing and literature in college before moving to Nashville to learn songwriting in 1992. In addition to co-writing songs and launching her own publishing company she is deeply passionate about living a creative life & works on her craft each day.

Bonnie has songs with artists as diverse as Rachel Platten, Zella Day, Rascal Flatts, Hunter Hayes, Chely Wright, The Static Shift, Reba, Brantley Gilbert, Sara Evans, Emerson Drive, Tenille Arts, Megan Davies, Raquel Cole, Autumn Nicholas, Noah Guthrie.

Bonnie ​landed her first cut in 1998 with a new artist on Warner Bros. That title was Ordinary Life which became a single and consequently a number one on the country charts and Bonnie Baker received her first of three ASCAP awards that following year. Other award winning singles: This Woman Needs by supergroup SheDaisy and My Sister by Reba McEntire. NSAI presented Baker with an top single award for title Invisible from artist Hunter Hayes.

Ten million albums have been sold that have at least one title created by Baker. She collaborated on the song Invisible from the second Hayes album for Warner Bros that was performed live on the Grammys and then received a nomination the following year in the country single category.

Recent singles include cuts from Raquel Cole, Hunter Hayes and Elyse Saunders.

Before we did everything on Zoom, the incredible Melissa Cross Melissa Cross hosted her first online group program.

We covered foundations of clean singing and then progressed to scream / distortion

Our class was the first of its kind with Melissa and I got to connect and learn with so many incredible vocalists.

Although metal isn’t 100% my lane, with the majority of my clients being in the country realm, I do work with a lot of rock and metal singers along with pop and country singers who want to add some growl and edge to their sound.

My reason for training with Melissa was to gain a full understanding of the healthy, safe and easy way to access more “aggressive” SOUNDING tones and to support my clients when they came to me saying how do I do that “scratchy / rough, grisly sounding stuff”

The goal is to sing how you want, with ease. SAFELY.

Never stop learning! Always expand your toolkit and never force your voice to do anything that doesn’t feel good!!!

Artist development is one of my favourite areas to work in.

It is such a joy to help artists, songwriters and performers of all ages achieve their goals, by spending focused time working on all of the elements that lead to special moments like the release of a first single, a performance on a dream stage or opening for one of their favourite artists.

Massive shout out to Ryan Kornak and the amazing Maddie at Alberta Boot Company

I had the BEST time last week designing my custom boots with Maddie!! My creative brain is all audio… so visually I was almost prepared to create boots with stuck on macaroni and finger painting like the best art I produced in the 80s in primary school….

Maddie walked me through the process with so much patience and knowledge and made it so much fun….

Now we wait!!!! I am so excited to see the finished boots!!

Photos… photoshoots and photos of photos being taken by photographers for photoshoots….

To say I am proud of these 3 is a total understatement. They each absolutely nailed their sets today at the The King Eddy

Rural Canada has some serious talent brewing and I can’t wait for more people to hear it, and for Evie Marsten | Country Artist|Singer Songwriter Addy Watson and Shaya Istace to write even more songs and be on many more stages.
