Employer Spotlight: Co-op, recipient of the Outstanding New Employer Award at the 2025 DEAM Awards!

Co-op's commitment to inclusion began with learning. Managers from Co-op locations across Alberta participated in our Autism 101 training, both virtually and in person, in one of our largest employer education sessions.

They took what they learned and put it into practice by implementing inclusive strategies and creating meaningful employment opportunities for neurodivergent professionals.

Thank you, Co-op, for your dedication to building more inclusive workplaces and for being a valued partner in creating opportunities where everyone can thrive.

Not every autistic person is a "Rain Man"

Autistic people have diverse strengths, interests, and abilities. While many develop deep knowledge in subjects they love, it's important to move beyond outdated stereotypes and recognize each person as an individual.

A great visit to the University of Calgary!

We had the opportunity to meet with the Autism Spectrum Education, Research, and Training (ASERT) group within the Werklund School of Education. Led by Dr. Adam McCrimmon, ASERT brings together researchers, clinicians, and professionals who are dedicated to advancing autism research and improving the lives of individuals on the autism spectrum.

During our visit, we learned about the team's current research initiatives, explored published studies, and gained valuable insight into how research helps deepen our understanding of autism and support evidence-based practices. It was inspiring to see the passion, collaboration, and commitment behind their work.

We also had the chance to learn more about opportunities for community involvement in research. We encourage individuals with lived experience to consider participating in research studies when possible, as these contributions play an important role in advancing knowledge, improving supports, and shaping future services.

Learn more about the ASERT team and explore their amazing and impactful research here: https://zurl.co/a4YCH

Thank you to the ASERT team for the warm welcome and for taking the time to share your knowledge and research with us!
