Our little ones gathered on the carpet today to explore real ocean animal figurines, getting up close with animals from under the sea for the very first time. Handling and naming animals like this builds vocabulary, sparks curiosity, and helps little ones make real connections to the world beyond! 🐠

🚗 This week our little ones explored a transportation-themed sensory bin filled with beans, sand, cars, road signs and community vehicles, all tied to our Transportation & Safety theme.

Sensory bins like this are a core part of emergent curriculum, a play-based approach to early learning where activities are designed around children's natural curiosity rather than a fixed lesson plan. When a child drives a fire truck through sand or moves a stop sign into place, they are not just playing. They are building vocabulary, developing fine motor skills, practicing cause and effect, and constructing their own understanding of the world around them.

This kind of open-ended, child-led exploration is at the heart of how we teach at Bright Kids every single day 💛

🏘️ Our little ones headed out into the neighbourhood this week to explore their community as part of our My Community theme!

From walking the streets of Thorncliffe together to discovering the local park — slides, swings and all — every step of this walk was a chance to take in the world right outside our door. Learning about community starts with simply being in it 💛

Outdoor excursions like this build confidence, develop gross motor skills, and give children a real sense of belonging to the place they live and grow in.
