My article ‘Public Interest In Elections’ in 2011 - Asian Tribune, from my column from Dr Raman Gill’s Desk.
To my knowledge even in 2026 many citizens are not aware of the process involved in provincial and federal elections. Only when they hear their voices are not being heard they talk about it sitting on couches only in their homes. Citizens should be actively involved from the very beginning if they want real change.

The word politics comes from the Greek word ‘Politika’ meaning affairs of the city or things concerning the citizens.

Politics should not be felt distant, made dirty, or complicated. When people understand how it works and affects them in a big way participation will begin to be more meaningful.

It was an honour to meet Irwin P**n an active community contributor and a political geek.
Conversations don’t always have to happen in meeting rooms, they can anywhere, in everyday place - like a grocery store.
We had conversations around genuine interest in growth of our communities that shape our future especially by empowering our youth and women. Irwin has grown up in here in Calgary and has deep understanding what ‘positive growth’ looks like.
It was a selfie time request, after I recalled he supported me when I ran for School Board Trustee many years back.

For me its also valuable to talk and listen and have conversations that can be turned to action. This is my personality connecting with people.

I carry memory of eating ‘Parle G’ biscuits and I still eat them.
And how satisfying it feels when we get a chance to dip in Indian tea. 🥰
