An important fraud prevention tip is to be cautious of unsolicited communications claiming to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The CRA will never ask for personal information, passwords, or payment through text messages, emails, or aggressive phone calls.
If you receive a suspicious message or call, do not click on any links or share personal information. Instead, sign in to CRA My Account or My Business Account to check for any official notices or amounts owing. It is also advisable to call the CRA using its official contact numbers—1-800-959-8281 (individuals) or 1-800-959-5525 (businesses)—to verify before taking any action.
Be aware of messages that create a sense of urgency, use threats, or request payment through gift cards or cryptocurrency as these are common scam tactics. Suspected scams or fraud should be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, even if there was no financial loss.

I had a fantastic time at the Business Link Newcomers Forum in Edmonton.
Grateful for the opportunity to share my journey as an entrepreneur. Hearing the stories of aspiring entrepreneurs and seeing how they’re navigating new beginnings in a new country was truly inspiring. There is a certain resilience we see in newcomer entrepreneurs—the kind that pushes them to step out of your comfort zone and keep moving forward.
There is something truly powerful about a space where courage, ambition, and community come together.
A big thank you to the Business Link team for organizing such a thoughtful and impactful event, and for creating a platform that supports newcomers in turning their ideas into action.

Just wrapped up an incredible few days at the CPA Small Practitioners Forum in beautiful Lake Louise. It was a great mix of learning, reflection, and connection with fellow practitioners.
Huge thanks to the organizers, speakers, and everyone who made this so engaging and meaningful. The conference encompassed new tax updates, ongoing tax legislation, Alberta’s economic outlook, practice management, CPA firm pricing models, ethics panels and discussions, and the importance of mental health and wellness in our profession.
Feeling inspired, more connected, and ready to bring fresh ideas back into practice.
