Our mission as Campus Security is to promote and facilitate a safe and secure learning and living environment. Campus Security embraces the concept of a community based safety and security service within a university setting. Our primary focus includes crime and loss prevention, problem solving, service delivery, emergency response and incident command. To achieve these goals, we promote positive community relations, public education, mediation and the use of current technology.

We want to give a "shout out" to our Foothills Campus Security Team, for catching two bike thieves. To protect your precious bike, use a sturdy U-lock to secure your bike through the frame to the rack.

Early this morning, about 40 anti-Muslim posters were found and removed by Campus Security on the University of Calgary’s main campus.

“The University of Calgary is committed to creating a safe and respectful campus for all students, faculty, staff and visitors,” says president Elizabeth Cannon. “These are disturbing, extremely offensive posters that in no way reflect the inclusive, diverse and caring culture of this university. Campus Security took immediate action to remove these posters and will be working with Calgary Police to investigate who posted them. We also have reached out to our Muslim Students’ Association, Ahmadiyya Muslim Students’ Association, Calgary Ismaili Students’ Association, Thaqalayn Muslim Association, Women’s Ahmadiyya Muslim Students’ Association, and our faith and spirituality community to offer support – services are available through our campus Wellness Centre.

Anyone who finds one of the posters is asked to provide it to Campus Security.

“The Faith & Spirituality Centre is deeply saddened to hear about the anti-Muslim posters that were found on campus this morning,” says Adriana Tulissi, Manager, Faith & Spirituality Centre at the University of Calgary. “We strive to provide a braver space on campus and to foster and build awareness, understanding and active pluralism. We are launching a Interreligious Student Alliance this month and invite student clubs to join together in shared values, understanding and solidarity. Please come by our Centre if you need support to show your solidarity.”
