We're very excited to host local author John Horner this weekend for a reading of his book, Tales from a Snowbank. ❄️
If you've ever wondered what it's like growing up in Churchill, Manitoba, the Polar Bear Capital of the World, this is your chance to hear all about it. In John's book, you'll discover personal stories of living in an isolated town on the shores of Hudson Bay, sharing space with polar bears.
John will be at the museum on Saturday and Sunday (Jan 14 & 15) from 12 pm - 3 pm to read excerpts from his book. Signed copies of his book will be available for purchase.

Join John Horner, author of Tales from a Snowbank, at Indigo Kenaston Common (1590 Kenaston Blvd.) on Saturday, August 27, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a book signing.
Tales from a Snowbank details the experiences that shaped John’s life as he grew up in the historically significant subarctic community of Churchill, Manitoba, during the extraordinary era that brought us colour television, Elvis, the Beatles, and Kermit the Frog—and influenced pop culture and a postwar way of life for decades to come.
John Horner
Home John Horner is the author of Tales from a Snowbank, an autobiographical collection documenting the author’s growth to adulthood in a small but significant Canadian community: Churchill, Manitoba.

The connection between Indigenous and Ukrainian communities in Canada fascinates me and warms my heart. Kokum scarves inspired the final project topic for my latest SFU Editing Certificate course, Writing and Editing for the Web. I also purchased several kokum scarves from this organization. They arrived earlier this week and are beautiful!
Indigenous Face Masks For each mask purchased, we send a mask to an Indigenous child or youth in our Indigenous communities across Canada. Founder, Tyson Wesley, Kashechewan Cree First Nation.

Are you looking for an engaging read to help you through these cold, grey winter days? Check out this delightful new book by debut author John Horner. Both the author and his beautiful book are very dear to me.
Tales from a Snowbank at the FriesenPress Bookstore In Tales from a Snowbank, you will read about the challenges of surviving in a sub-arctic community, such as walking home from school with the fear of turning a corner and coming face-to-face with a big white bear. This is an autobiographical collection ...

Greetings! Did you know the sign-off in your holiday cards does not require an apostrophe? It’s true! Visit my latest blog post to learn more.
Don’t Spoil a Beautiful Holiday Card with an Errant Apostrophe Can you believe it’s the end of November? The past few months have been a blur. I am grateful for several exciting and unexpected opportunities, and I am really enjoying meeting (e-meeting?) so many wonderful new people.
Are you planning a social media post to announce your organization’s intention to close on September 30th in recognition of Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation? Or perhaps you intend to notify your followers of the actions your organization is taking to encourage reflection, education, and awareness surrounding the trauma and suffering caused by Canada’s Residential Schools. Before you post on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, Curious Koi Proofreading, in an effort to support your initiative, would be honoured to proofread your text at no charge.
