A Harvard and Boston study showed that children with no previous musical training who took lessons for just over a year literally changed the structure of their brains 🤯🎶 Magnetic resonance scans revealed: 👉 Growth in motor areas (finger control) 👉 Growth in the corpus callosum (communication between hemispheres) 👉 Growth in the auditory cortex (sound processing) And that is not all. These children improved in: 🌟 Bimanual coordination 🌟 Melodic and rhythmic discrimination 🌟 Musical skills specific to playing and listening Music did not magically boost vocabulary or general intelligence, but the effect was beautifully specific. 🎶 What you see in a performance is just the tip of the iceberg. What you don’t see? The hours of slow, patient practice. The willingness to start hands separately. The discipline of working with a metronome. The late-night small-section repetitions The practice performances. The mental preparation. The lessons, the car rides, the pep talks, the self-doubt, the breakthroughs.
