Keanu River

It’s been awhile since I posted. Anyways, still around..today Keanu with a little help from me..made some Valentines card for his classmates. I made him print the names. Easy project for him as well. 💕

Practical activity: Planting, which actually he started around June. Where I taught him how to grow a plant & ways to look after a plant.

Reviewing Time: using a broken clock. I think the best way to learn getting into hands on & fine motor skills. What do you think?

Understand that our children's behaviours are most often signals of a need that is going unmet--feeling overwhelmed, tired, sick, invisible, or disconnected will cause children to behave in ways to grab our attention.

They are signalling to us that they need us to "see" what is going on with them. They are not looking to disrupt our day or inconvenience us. Children want to do well if they can.

All behaviour is communication. At the Institute, we often speak about "practicing the pause." Slow down in your response....and remember when we respond to a child from a place of stress, it is almost impossible for the child to calm and learn from the experience.

Take your time...prioritize safety and connection...and when you are calm and your child is calm....then you can teach.

Children have an innate need to love and belong, especially to their parents. When they feel disconnected they will do everything in their power to be seen by you, even if those behaviors make you want to pull away. The children who ask for love in the most unloving ways, often need it the most.
