Tech career != (Is Not Equals to) Coding
Not every role in IT is about coding.
The biggest myth people have and are scared of thinking to chage career to IT is, I can not do coding or I hate coding.
There are two typs of roles in tech: Technical and Business
People like coding and similar choose technical learning courses; people like no-coding and like talks, management, and business choose Business related courses.
You choose yours based on your goal; we will help you and make it easier for you to select one.
At **Institute of IT Training Canada (IOFIT)**, we help students, career changers, newcomers, and working professionals build successful careers in Canada's growing technology sector through hands-on, project-based training and industry mentorship.

**Sometimes, getting hired has less to do with giving perfect answers and more to do with showing up with the right attitude.**
Today we would like to share the story of one of our students. We'll call her **Marie** (name changed for privacy).
Marie had been applying for jobs for months. Like many newcomers and professionals in today's market, she had faced rejection after rejection. Every interview felt like it could be her only chance.
One morning, she had an interview with one of Canada's leading telecommunications companies for a QA Analyst position.
Her interview was scheduled for **11:00 AM**.
The interviewer had emailed her the day before saying:
"Please arrive a little early because visitor parking is limited."
Marie took those words very seriously.
She arrived at the reception...
**At 9:00 AM.**
The receptionist smiled and asked,
"Good morning. How can I help you?"
Marie replied,
"I'm here for my QA Analyst interview."
The receptionist checked the schedule.
"Your interview is at 11:00 AM... It's only 9:00."
Marie quietly replied,
"Yes... I was told to come a little early so I could find parking. I didn't want to risk being late."
The receptionist kindly called the hiring manager.
After a brief conversation, the manager said,
"Please ask her to wait. We'll see if we can fit her in earlier."
At that moment, Marie's heart sank.
She started thinking...
"Did I make a mistake?"
"Will they think I'm unprofessional?"
"Have I already ruined my chance?"
She sat there silently.
Nervous.
Scared.
Shivering.
About 30 minutes later, the hiring manager came to the reception himself.
The first thing he noticed wasn't her resume.
It wasn't her experience.
It was how nervous she was.
He gently offered her a bottle of water.
Then asked if she'd like a coffee.
She smiled politely and accepted the water but declined the coffee.
He wasn't trying to test her.
He was trying to help her feel comfortable.
The interview began.
The panel asked questions patiently.
Whenever she struggled, they rephrased questions or gave small hints to help her explain her experience.
The interview lasted about 35 minutes.
Marie never stopped shaking.
At the end, the manager asked,
"Do you have any questions for us?"
Marie quietly replied,
"No."
The manager smiled.
"Give me a minute."
He stepped outside and returned with someone from HR.
Then he looked at Marie and said something she will never forget.
"We've decided to hire you. Can you start next week?"
Marie burst into tears.
Not because the interview was easy.
Not because she answered every question perfectly.
But because someone finally believed in her.
Later, the manager shared something remarkable.
He said they had already noticed something long before the technical discussion.
A candidate who arrived two hours early wasn't careless.
She was deeply committed.
She respected the opportunity.
She was determined not to let something as simple as parking make her late.
Her sincerity, preparation, humility, and dedication spoke louder than polished interview answers.
That left a lasting impression.
# # # The lesson?
In today's hiring market, everyone focuses on technical skills, certifications, and interview questions.
Those are important.
But employers are also looking for qualities that cannot be taught overnight:
✅ Commitment
✅ Reliability
✅ Respect for other people's time
✅ Humility
✅ A willingness to learn
Technical skills may get you shortlisted.
Character often gets you hired.
To everyone still searching for that one opportunity:
Don't let rejection convince you that you're not good enough.
Keep preparing.
Keep improving.
Keep showing up.
One interview can change your life.
At the Institute of IT Training (IOFIT) Canada, we've witnessed many stories like Marie's. Success isn't always about being the smartest person in the room—it often comes from preparation, perseverance, professionalism, and believing in yourself, even when you're nervous.
Sometimes, all it takes is one person to see your potential.
And when that moment comes, everything changes.
❤️ If this story inspired you, share it with someone who's losing hope in their job search. Your encouragement might be exactly what they need today.
