TOPP KIDS Out of School Clubs

September is nearly here, and some of you have a child who is quietly nervous about it.

That is normal, and we plan for it. First weeks with us are slow on purpose. We learn names before we learn anything else, and we bring a child into the group gently, in the way that feels comfortable to them.

Every child needs to know they matter here. That someone noticed they walked in. That there is a place held for them in this community and they are part of the TK family.

The nervousness fades. And once it does, that is when the fun comes out.

A short list of things we cannot wait for.

The first dance party that starts because one kid could not help themselves. The first watch this. The first junior leader who steps up and sets the example for everyone else. The first time a new kid joins in. The first game that gets so complicated it needs its own rulebook and a referee.

September is coming. We are ready when you are.

If your child is starting with us this September, here is what the afternoon actually looks like.

Pickup, then snack time, and then something rarer than either one. Time.

Time to start a project and come back to it tomorrow. Time to join a club, design a comic book, build the thing, run the game. Time to get outside.

This is where the real learning happens. Children are mighty learners and citizens of our community, and play is how they do that work. We follow their thinking rather than filling the afternoon for them.

Before school, after school, and the days in between when school is closed and work is not. If sorting out September care has been sitting on your list, this is the week to move it.

Spaces at our busier clubs go early. We would much rather you had a spot than a place on a waitlist.

The gym is quiet right now, and it will not stay that way long.

Somewhere there is a ball waiting for its first game, a stack of hula hoops that has no idea what is coming, and a parachute folded up for a September afternoon. The shelves are getting sorted and the plans are getting made.

We are excited. September is close, and we cannot wait to see you.
