I have a pretty unconventional idea for you to adjust well to the time change this Sunday.
Brad with me, I promise after 6 years of coaching families about sleep I have dialled this in…

Despite the clocks being changed, our children will still wake when their bodies want. So my best advice is get to bed on time, that’s advice for parents too. And waking up on-time for school/work Saturday bad Sunday. This way it doesn’t hurt so bad come Monday morning ❤️

HEAT & SLEEP don’t mix well!
It’s the reason your little one has been struggling at bedtime.

🔥Here are a few tips to beat the heat and get some sleep:

⭐️Dress your little in lighter pyjamas or just a diaper/underwear. And as always go for 100% cotton!!
⭐️Use a lighter TOG sleep sack and dress your little in a diaper and short sleeved top underneath. Same goes for a swaddle blanket.
⭐️Opt for lighter blankets or just use a sheet for older kids.
⭐️Use a fan (or Air conditioning)
If you don’t have central air but maybe have a portable unit, cool down your little ones room before sleepy time!
⭐️make sure everyone is getting plenty of fluids all day! Your baby will need more to quench their thirst and to keep cool!
⭐️Keep your curtains drawn all day to keep the sunlight & heat out!
⭐️Open the windows late at. Ugh this once it’s cooled down but close them once it starts to warm up!
⭐️Set up a safe sleep space in your basement where it’s cooler.
⭐️Try a slightly cooler bath before bed.

We often retreat into the basement to sleep where it’s cooler. It took some prep work to get the room set up to be nice a dark and a couple of sleeps for our little guy to get used to it but now he can easily change back and forth between his own room and room sharing with us in the spare room on the extra hot nights.

Summer is upon us and I couldn’t be more excited. ☀️ BUT it can also be a tricky time when you have a baby.

How can you keep your baby protected from the sun, keep cool but also still have fun making first summer memories?

I love this! For all you C sections momma’s what a fun way to share your kiddo’s birth story ❤️

Thanks daylight savings, now my kiddo is fighting bedtime!

If this is you, your not alone. Increased daylight before bed creates some biological challenges when it comes to sleep. In order for our bodies to start to release melatonin (the sleep hormone) we need to be exposed to darkness 20-40 minutes before we can successfully fall asleep.

💫Invest in a quality blackout window covering solution to ensure that no little peeks of daylight are coming into the room. (This also helps with daytime naps too!)

💫Try some calming pre-bedtime activities in the dark. Shadow puppets, bath with dim lighting and glow sticks in the tub or reading with flashlights/low light lamp.

💫Have some bedtime snacks that promote calmness and melatonin production.

💫Be patient, your working with biological matters and not strong will ❤️
