Wee Wild Ones Wee Wild Ones is an inquiry-based early childhood education centre

Founded in 2013 with a dream to bring children closer to nature, Wee Wild Ones is a group of daycare centres that uses a child guided, inquiry-based approach, inspired by the Reggio Emilia style of learning. Our childcare and early childhood education programs promote exploration and learning through play, nature, and movement. At our centres and beyond, we support and uplift our community, champion diversity and inclusivity, and actively work towards greater environmental stewardship.

Our waitlists are now open for WWO Douglasdale in Calgary's SE! 🎉

Opening this fall, this is our largest centre to date, featuring 16 spacious, light-filled classrooms and a sizable outdoor play space. The centre is located off 114 Ave SE, serving Douglasdale, Quarry Park, and neighbouring communities with quality childcare for ages 6 months to 6 years. Aligned with Alberta's Flight framework and a Reggio-inspired approach, WWO Douglasdale will incorporate indoor learning and outdoor exploration to stimulate children's natural curiosity.

IMPORTANT: New childcare programs in Alberta are currently not eligible for the Province's Affordability Grant. As a new childcare centre, WWO Douglasdale does not qualify for this funding. As a result, WWO Douglasdale's monthly rates will differ from WWO locations that previously qualified for the Affordability Grant. Our rates include participation in our in-house meal program, and will remain the same for families who choose to opt out.

Practice makes perfect! ✂

These Currie kiddos were recently practicing and refreshing their cutting skills to prepare for preschool! The educator used recyclable materials to set up this activity, allowing the kids to cut different patterns like "snake" and "zig zag". Like all things, refining our hand-eye coordination through these types of tasks takes practice - and the kids are determined to reach perfection!

We can't believe our summer camps have ended, but we hope the memories these kids made will last! 🌤

Summer camps ran throughout July and August at our Riverside Bungalow location, featuring a variety of themes. If you visited our centre recently, you may have noticed the beautiful plants the children grew over the summer. Or you may have even taken a stone from our Kindness Garden! It was amazing to see the kids continuing to learn and make new friends through these activities. We wish you all the best as you start your new school year!

There's always something to see on our daily walks! 🎈

These Ampersand tots love a change of scenery when we use the +15 Walkway. From a Reggio-inspired approach, our programs balance time in the classroom with outdoor exploration to keep kids engaged. Sometimes the weather prevents us from taking the children outside, but our educators are quick to adapt like this recent walk to Brookfield Place using the +15 Walkway!

With summer winding down, we're looking back at all the fun our kids had throughout this year's summer camps! 🌳🌤

These Riverside Bungalow children had a blast learning about each summer camp theme. From Mad Science to Taking Care of Our World, and Transportation, there was always something new to discover! We're finishing up our camps with the theme Cozy Campout & Outdoor Adventures to soak up the last of the sun before they head back to school!

Our Ampersand kids were delighted to discuss all things farm during this recent activity. From show and tell, story time, to animal sounds, the kids eagerly followed along and asked questions. This activity encouraged their listening skills and language development as the kids expressed their ideas with growing confidence.

This is what these Bridgeland preschoolers have been learning - finding beauty in the environment around us. Using their own creativity and imagination, the kids made their own nature-inspired artworks.
