📖 THE WHY SERIES — VOLUME 3 | PART 2

So… Has the Bible Been Changed?

In this part of The Why Series we're asking an important question:

If we don't have the original biblical manuscripts, how can we know what the authors actually wrote?

The answer isn't, “Just trust me.”

It's evidence. 🔎

We'll look at the thousands of surviving Greek New Testament manuscript witnesses, including early manuscripts such as 𝔓52, 𝔓46, 𝔓66, Codex Sinaiticus, and Codex Vaticanus.

We'll also look honestly at textual variations and difficult passages.

Yes, differences exist.

But here's what matters:

👉 Most textual variations are minor.
👉 They can be identified and compared.
👉 Difficult passages don't have to be hidden or ignored.
👉 The vast body of manuscript evidence allows scholars to reconstruct the text with a very high degree of confidence.
👉 And no core Christian doctrine depends on a single disputed textual variant.

The goal isn't to pretend there are no difficult questions.

The goal is to ask the questions, examine the evidence, consider the alternatives, and follow the truth where it leads.

Because faith doesn't have to be afraid of investigation. 🔎

And if the evidence shows that the Bible has been faithfully preserved, that's worth knowing.

So… has the Bible been changed?

The evidence says the biblical text has been remarkably preserved—and we have strong reasons to trust what we have today. 📖

WORLD CHANGERS AND HISTORY MAKERS

"These who have turned the world upside down have come here too." - Acts 17:6

Five things that are true about this kind of world changers.

1. They know who they are in Christ.

"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new." - 2 Cor 5:17 
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me." - Gal 2:20
"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." - 1John 4:4.

2. They know what their message is:

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes." - Rom 1:16 
"And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them confirming His word with the accompanying signs." - Mark 16:20

3. They know what their mission is:

"...to turn unbelievers from darkness to light from the power of Satan unto God." - Acts 26:19
"The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." - Luke 19:10

4. They are bold and uncompromising

"And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness." - Acts 4:31

5. They are willing to suffer and sacrifice for what they believe.

"For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." - Phil 1:21

Can We Trust the Bible?
Part 1 — What Does It Mean to Trust the Bible?

Can we really trust a book written thousands of years ago?

That’s a fair question.

And in this volume, we’re not going to answer it with “Because the Bible says so.”

We’re going to investigate the evidence. 🔎

When we ask, “Can I trust the Bible?” we’re actually asking several different questions:

đź“ś Was the text accurately preserved?
🏺 Is the historical setting reliable?
🔎 Are its claims supported by external evidence?
✨ Is there evidence of divine origin?

And those questions matter.

Throughout this volume, we’ll look at ancient manuscripts, archaeology, historical records, outside sources, difficult passages, biblical prophecy, and the evidence surrounding the Bible's transmission and reliability.

But we're also going to approach the questions honestly.

We don't have to believe the Bible simply because someone told us it's true.

And we don't have to reject it simply because someone told us it isn't.

Ask questions.
Examine the evidence.
Consider the alternatives.
Follow the truth wherever it leads.

Because faith doesn't have to be afraid of investigation. ❤️

Who is Jesus—and why does He matter?

We’ve spent this volume asking a simple but deeply important question:

What makes Jesus different?

We’ve explored His claims, His character, His invitation, and the truth He taught. We’ve looked at His grace, His love, His authority, and ultimately, the reason Christians believe Jesus is more than simply a good teacher or religious figure.

Because Christianity doesn’t ultimately ask us to decide what we think about an idea.

It asks us to respond to a Person.

And that brings us to the question Jesus Himself asked:

“But who do you say that I am?” — Matthew 16:15 (NKJV)

That question is just as relevant today as it was 2,000 years ago.

Not Who does culture say He is?
Not Who do other people say He is?
But who do YOU say that He is?

The answer matters.

Because if Jesus really is who He claimed to be, then He deserves more than our curiosity. He deserves our response.

Is it loving to say that Jesus is the only way?

It’s a question many people genuinely wrestle with.

If Jesus really claimed to be the only way to God, does believing that make Christianity intolerant?

In Volume 2, Part 4 of The Why Series, we explored why truth and love actually belong together.

There is a difference between saying, “I’m better than you,” and saying, “I believe something is true.”

Christians aren't called to look down on people or treat others as less valuable. We’re called to share the hope we’ve found with humility and love.

Think about a doctor who discovers a serious illness. Would a loving doctor hide the diagnosis because the truth might be difficult to hear?

No.

They tell the truth because they care.

Jesus did the same. Throughout the Gospels, He welcomed the broken, the doubters, the outcasts, the religious, and the sinners.

His invitation was never reserved for a select few.

Come to Me.

There may be one way to be rescued, but that doesn't mean only certain people are welcome.

That's an important distinction.

Truth without love can become harsh.
Love without truth can become misleading.
But Jesus demonstrated both.

📖 Ephesians 4:15 (NKJV)
“…speaking the truth in love…”

If Jesus really is the only way, then sharing that truth isn't an act of intolerance.

It's an act of love.

And that brings us to our final question in Volume 2:

The goal of The Why Series isn't to win arguments. It's to ask honest questions, explore what Christianity claims, and discover where the truth leads.

Do we have to earn God's acceptance?

It's one of the most common assumptions people have about Christianity.

"If I'm a good person..."

"If I try my best..."

"If my good outweighs my bad..."

Surely that's enough...

But what if the Gospel tells a completely different story?

Welcome to Volume 2, Part 3 of The Why Series – Why Is Jesus the Only Way?

This week we're exploring one of the biggest differences between Christianity and every attempt to reach God on our own.

Most religions, in one way or another, point people toward what they must do.

Do more.
Try harder.
Become better.
Earn acceptance.

The Gospel begins somewhere completely different.

God came to us.

Jesus lived the life we could never live.

He paid the debt we could never pay.

He accomplished what we could never accomplish on our own.

That's why the cross changes everything.

The Bible teaches that salvation isn't something we achieve—it's something we receive.

Not because we've earned it.
Not because we deserve it.

But because of God's incredible grace.

Grace means receiving from God what we could never earn for ourselves.

📖 Ephesians 2:8–9 (NKJV)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

The beauty of Christianity isn't that good works don't matter—they do. But good works are the result of being saved, not the reason we're saved.

We don't obey God to earn His love.

We obey because He has already loved us.

That's the difference grace makes.
