It is the students of today that will make or break the world tomorrow. Paying attention to the spiritual and moral upbringing of students therefore is of the utmost importance. University in many ways is the new ‘coming of Age’. It is a stamp of adulthood; for most it is the first time they will live away from home. We enter into a new world when we come to university, blinking because for the newness and brightness of it all. For many, it is the first time that they will meet those of other cultures, races and religions. University is held up as a time when a young man or woman must challenge and investigate that with which they have been brought up with. Yet many who come to university enter it and leave it without making that key investigation into those issues which are of the greatest importance: what is our purpose of life and what is the best way to live which will bring the greatest happiness for ourselves and others around us? There is perhaps no better time in life to investigate the answers to these questions than at university, for rarely will one have an opportunity to meet so many people of such varied beliefs, philosophies and attitudes to life. We must not let our time at university slip by without probing and making genuine efforts to address ourselves to the most fundamental issues that will lay the foundation for the rest of our lives. It is about asking everyone – Muslim or non Muslim – to ask themselves why they believe what they believe. We will provide what we think are the right answers, the answers unfolded by the Holy Qur’an, as explained to us by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Messiah of Islam, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him). We don’t ask you to accept our answers blindly – not at all. Investigate, probe and challenge our answers in the spirit of sincere enquiry and together we will help one another in seeking peace both in this life and in the hereafter.
