The more experienced we become, the easier it is to assume we already understand.

Expertise matters.
Knowledge matters.
Experience matters.

But wisdom also recognizes that every person carries a story, perspective, and reality we have not fully lived.

Curiosity allows us to bring what we know without allowing it to become a barrier to what we still need to learn.

It sounds like:
“What am I missing?”
“Can you help me understand?”
“What matters most to you here?”

Humility does not make us less capable. It makes us more present.
It keeps us from reducing people to labels, assumptions, or quick conclusions.

The strongest leaders are not those who need to prove they know everything.

They are those who remain teachable in every room.

If every answer has to come from you, you’re not building a team, you’re building dependency.

As leaders, it can feel good to be the one people come to.

We solve the problem.
We give the answer.
We keep things moving.

But if we always step in, we can unintentionally teach people to wait for us instead of learning how to think for themselves.

Strong leaders know the difference between when to advise and when to coach.

Sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is not give the answer, but ask a better question:

What have you considered so far?
What options do you see?
What do you believe the next step should be?

Those questions do more than solve the issue in front of you. 👍

They build confidence.
They strengthen judgment.
They create ownership.
And over time, they develop people who are more capable, innovative, and ready to lead.
