😁We're excited to welcome 15 new Educational Assistants to the Janus Academy team for the 2026–2027 school year! 🍎

Some of our newest team members are familiar faces who joined us previously as practicum students and substitute staff, and we're thrilled to officially welcome them to the team.

Before students arrive, our EAs participate in two to three days of training where they explore Janus Academy's teaching philosophy, evidence-based practices, and hands-on teaching strategies designed to support autistic learners.

A special thank you to three of our students who joined us during training to help create authentic teaching and learning scenarios. Their participation gave our new staff the opportunity to practice strategies in real-life situations and helped bring our training to life.

We are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, connection, and success, and we can't wait to welcome our students back on September 8th! 🎉💙

We’re feeling incredibly fortunate to be starting a new school year on such a strong note, surrounded by the support of our amazing community! 💙

Curtis Beswick, president of CJ Campbell Insurance, and Craig Mushet, C.I.P., Business Development Manager for Intact Insurance, came by today to present a Community Impact Partnership cheque to Janus Academy. A heartfelt thank you to these two organizations for investing in our students and for helping us continue the work we do every day.

Contributions like this do more than support our school—they help us provide autistic students with opportunities to develop skills, build confidence, discover their strengths, and prepare for meaningful futures.

Through the voices and lived experiences of autistic teens from Janus Academy, participants will gain a deeper understanding of communication, sensory processing, social experiences, and the barriers that can impact learning, belonging, and participation. Together, we'll explore how greater understanding can lead to more inclusive and supportive communities. 💙

❤ A heartfelt thank you to the teachers and educational assistants who attended the 💪Start the Year Strong 💪workshop! We are truly grateful for your engagement, thoughtful participation, and honest conversations about how we can create positive change for both students and educators throughout the 2026-2027 school year.

Together, we reflected on the students we have supported over the years and explored how we can better prepare for the students we will have in the coming year. When we intentionally teach the skills students need to be successful, we create opportunities for learning and growth. 🍎

🏙️ Exploring Calgary Together! 🏙️

Our final week of camp is all about discovering the amazing community around us. Campers enjoyed hiking, city parks, recreation centres, and other local attractions while building independence and community connections. 🌳🏛️
