Many benefits are noticeable when combining multiple age groups into one classroom :
-Self-paced and individualized learning:
The environment encourages children to progress based on their readiness rather than their age or the schedule for the class. No child ever feels "left behind"🧑‍🏫 . A three-year-old wouldn't be held back by a school agenda if he /she was prepared for more difficult language work. On the contrary, a five-year-old would have greater access to one-on-one support, if he/she was having difficulty with language work.
-Gaining valuable life lessons from one another:
Older students learn the value of practice and hard work by observing younger students progressing from one activity to the next.
On the other hand, younger students aspire to be at the same level as their older classmates because they look up to them. It advises them to be patient and tells them "One day, you too will succeed. Just like your Friend ."😇
-Children learn better from their peers:
Children don't necessarily need a formal lesson to acquire knowledge. By observing their peers go through complex material step by step, they can pick up new skills. After that, they determine whether to wait or start practicing.
-Children get the chance to be experts:
Older children get to be role models for the younger children. This is great for the development of self-esteem and a sense of leadership. Younger children observe and learn while older children get the chance to help and teach, reinforcing their own learning.
-Mixed age group eliminates unhealthy competition between the children:
Children learn to help and ask for help from their peers which leads to fewer behavior incidents in the classroom.

These are a few snippets of pictures showing our LBC class's oldest student helping with the Quran, Arabic, math, and culture.☺️

In a Montessori classroom, the children are given the freedom to work at their own pace and to choose the materials that interest them. Each child's needs are taken into account when the teacher offers the resources. She arranged and displayed them in a way that lets kids explore and learn on their own.

The greatest part then begins, which is sitting back and admiring their endless creativity☺️

"He must have absolute freedom of choice, and then he requires nothing but repeated experiences, which will become increasingly marked by interest and serious attention during his acquisition of some desired knowledge." Dr. Maria Montessori

In Montessori education, handwriting is introduced to children in such a gentle and unique way. With NO tears and No pain, the 4 as well as the 6-year-old practice writing with joy .

The process of writing is amazing to watch. It happens first in informal ways through Practical Life Activities and Sensorial Activities.
Look at the outcome! Look at how these beautiful hands practice every day the cursive skill to reach what Montessori calls the "perfection" ☺️

One of the reasons why Montessori education is so effective is because it is scientifically based on how children learn - they learn experientially.
They are given appropriate materials. They are given the freedom to explore. The nature is given them the tool to put in practice their new skill.

My children were excited today to see the footprint of a small dog in the backyard. The joy in their face will make you feel as if it was the first time they see them. Subhan Allah

Here is the most loved activity of the day. ☺️

Children learned how to identify different animal footprints 🐾 using play dough, animal figurines, and answer cards.

With the snow so present in Calgary, take your children for a walk and help them identify the footprints of dogs and bunnies.
If you are lucky enough, you might come across the 🐾🐾🐾 of coyotes, skunks, or deer🦨

Have fun ☺️

The metal inset activity is an essential and critical lesson in the language area of the Montessori environment . It is one of the great preparation for writing tool. It helps the child
-Acquire the ability to trace
-Develop a light touch for using a pencil
-Adapt a correct posture for writing
