BIG NEWS FOR THE FMA COMMUNITY!

I’m excited to announce that we will be welcoming Tuhon Apolo Ladra to Calgary this October!

Tuhon Apolo and his group will be joining us on Friday, October 9 for the 2026 Mac Martial Arts International FMA Tournament. Then on Saturday and Sunday, Tuhon Apolo will be conducting a special iKali Filipino Martial Arts Seminar here in Calgary.

For those who may not be familiar with him, Tuhon Apolo Ladra is a highly respected Filipino Martial Arts instructor and the founder of iKali. He has spent decades training, teaching, and promoting Filipino Martial Arts internationally. His approach brings together weapons training, empty-hand applications, movement, timing, coordination, and the principles that make Filipino Martial Arts such an effective and unique martial art.

This is a great opportunity for the Alberta martial arts community to train directly with an internationally recognized FMA instructor without having to travel outside the province.

SEMINAR COST
$100 – One Day
$150 – Both Days

The seminar is open to martial artists from all clubs, systems, styles, and experience levels. You do not need to be a Mac Martial Arts student to attend.

One of my goals has always been to bring great Filipino Martial Arts instructors to Calgary and give our community opportunities to learn, connect, and grow together. Whether you train Arnis, Kali, Eskrima, or another martial art, you are welcome.

One heritage. Many systems. One community.

Calling all Filipino Martial Arts practitioners in Alberta and everyone planning to attend this year’s Mac Martial Arts Tournament in Calgary, Alberta, Canada!

Every year, I try to bring respected instructors from around the world to Calgary to give our FMA community an opportunity to train, learn, and grow together.

This year, I’m working on bringing my friend, Tuhon Apolo Ladra to Calgary for a special weekend of Filipino Martial Arts.

Before I finalize everything, I’d like to get an idea of how many people would be interested in attending. If training with Tuhon Apolo Ladra is something you’d be interested in, please send me a message or let me know in the comments.

Invitation to the 2026 Mac Martial Arts Tournament!

We are excited to invite martial arts schools, instructors, coaches, and competitors to join us for this year’s Mac Martial Arts Tournament, taking place October 9 & 10, 2026, at the Hopewell Centre in Calgary, Alberta!

This year, we will be running two full days of competition:

🇵🇭 Friday, October 9 – Filipino Martial Arts (FMA)
All FMA divisions, including forms and sparring divisions.

Saturday, October 10 – Sport Karate
All Sport Karate divisions for competitors of different ages, ranks, and experience levels.

A huge THANK YOU to all the schools, provinces, and U.S. states that have already reached out and confirmed that they are planning to attend. We truly appreciate your support and are looking forward to welcoming everyone to Calgary!

Mac Martial Arts Summer Camps 2026

Looking for an exciting, active, and confidence-building summer experience for your child? Mac Martial Arts Summer Camps offer action-packed weeks filled with martial arts training, fitness, teamwork, and fun for children from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Whether your child is a complete beginner or an experienced martial artist, our camps provide a safe and supportive environment where students can learn new skills, build lasting friendships, and develop confidence both on and off the mats.

Each week includes Taekwondo, Filipino Martial Arts (Arnis/Eskrima), Kickboxing, board breaking, Nerf battles, outdoor games, team-building activities, movie days, educational activities, arts and crafts, and special guest demonstrations. Students will improve their focus, discipline, fitness, and self-defense skills while enjoying a summer full of adventure and excitement.

For over 25 years, Mac Martial Arts has been helping children and families throughout Calgary build confidence, discipline, respect, and leadership through martial arts. We are proudly located in The District, conveniently located near Kinjo Sushi at Country Hills Boulevard and Deerfoot Trail in Northeast Calgary.

Our instructors are National and World Champions, and every instructor has completed a criminal record check and is First Aid certified, ensuring a safe, fun, and supportive environment for every child.
