Good, bad, clean eating, cheat day, healthy, unhealthy, superfood, organic, natural... there are SO MANY food labels out there. 🤯😒

Reality check: your organic food is not a moral issue. In our society, we often hear people talking about food as if it has inherent “good” or “bad” qualities. When we label foods as good/bad, people are more likely to internalize these labels and label THEMSELVES (or others) as good/bad.

Before you judge someone for their food choices, take a moment to consider the following factors:

• food security (maybe the food budget got cut in half this week to pay for the rent. or did the person get their food from the food bank? so they didn’t have a choice on what was in the hamper. not everyone can afford to go to the farmers market. many of my clients shop at or due to lower price point. feeding a family of 5-6 is expensive af, especially with the rising cost of food)
• accessibility (not having access to a vehicle, individuals who live far from a grocery store)
• education (i.e. baseline knowledge - not being aware of the different food groups)
• cooking & meal prep abilities (never learning how to cook, or mental health issues causing decreased motivation to cook)
• cultural traditions (i.e. a fermented flatbread called injera is a fundamental component of Ethiopian cuisine)

Warm breakfasts are soooo COMFORTING now that winter is coming! Not gonna lie, summer is my favorite season... but since we live in Canada, night as well embrace the sweater weather (and going to bed with socks on 😂)

I used to buy quick oats only (keyword = quick lol), but over the past year I’ve grown a liking for steel-cut oats! They have a chewier texture and a nuttier flavor than regular rolled oats. 👌🏻

Today’s breakkky:
• chocolate steel-cut oats with chia (contains soluble fibre for satiety between meals, and insoluble fibre for digestive health and regular 💩)
• 1 sliced banana (yes you CAN eat a full banana... don’t let diet culture tell you otherwise 🍌)
• heaping spoonful of PB (I cant eat oats unless there’s some type of nut butter added - warm melty perfection 🥜🔥)
• homemade chai latte on the side! ☕️

Happy Humpday! 🐫❤️ on my drive home from my dentist appt today, I was craving some sourdough from - so that’s exactly what I picked up! A healthy relationship with food means listening to BOTH biological hunger cues and cravings.

• sunflower flax sourdough (if you know, you know 😏)
• guac (premade from cuz ain’t nobody got time to wait for avocados to ripen)
• over easy eggs
• valentina hot sauce
• S&P

Nothing beats a weekday dinner date at with an old friend! ❤️🌿

I made a custom bowl with kale, farro, roasted brussels, roasted yams, pickled beets, avocado, and green goddess vinaigrette! Topped with blackened chicken and roasted almonds. YUM 👌🏻
