For the past 2 weeks of our Intellidance®️Babies session, we have been exploring the movement and music concept of Space and Place/Stop and Go with different music. We had fun with some Freeze Dance and stop and go sensory props like shakers, scarves and ribbon wands. As the activities went on, the babies got really good at stopping when the music stopped and kicking their feet, shaking and making noise when the music was going!
Practice some stop and go activities at home and see how your little one’s reaction changes the more you do the activity!

Repetition actually promotes brain development 🧠
Playing music on repeat in your child’s daily routine can help strengthen neural pathways and promote language development, memory retention and emotional regulation. It gives little ones a sense of comfort, security, confidence and familiarity too!
As annoying as it can be listening to the same song over and over each day, don’t be afraid to repeat, repeat, repeat!

Musical Monday 🎼
The slide whistle is one of my favourite instruments. It’s simple, not expensive and so much fun! We use the slide whistle to teach the movement and music concept of level and pitch. When a low note is played, we reciprocate with a low movement. When a high note is played, we move to a high level. It’s helps babies and children discriminate between high and low pitch, as well as create an association with high pitch, high movement and low pitch, low movement.
