đź’§ Water Play and Exploration đź’§

Learning Through Sensory Play

Children enjoyed a wonderful water sensory invitation filled with colorful goldfish, sparkling gems, rocks, shells, plants, droppers, and containers. This engaging experience encouraged children to explore, investigate, and discover through hands-on play.

Through pouring, transferring, scooping, and mixing, children strengthened their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and problem-solving abilities. The open-ended nature of the activity inspired creativity, imagination, and curiosity as children experimented with different materials and observed how they interacted with water.

This sensory-rich experience also supported children’s cognitive development, language skills, and scientific thinking as they made predictions, tested ideas, and shared their discoveries with friends.

🌊 Learning Outcomes:

* Enhances curiosity and exploration
* Develops fine motor skills and coordination
* Encourages creativity and imaginative play
* Supports problem-solving and critical thinking
* Promotes focus, concentration, and engagement
* Builds social skills through shared play experiences

The children were fully engaged, excited, and delighted throughout the activity, demonstrating a genuine love for learning through play and exploration.

“Play gives children the opportunity to practice what they are learning.”

Exploring and Sorting Different Shapes

Through this simple invitation, children are developing their cognitive and mathematical thinking skills as they explore, identify, compare, and sort different shapes. This hands-on activity encourages children to recognize shape attributes, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and build early geometry concepts.

As they sort and categorize shapes, children are also enhancing their fine motor skills, focus, concentration, and critical thinking. The activity promotes independent learning, confidence, and meaningful engagement while fostering curiosity and a love for learning through play.

Practicing Counting and Fine Motor Skills

Through the Bead Logarithmic Game and Stick Drawing Game, children actively developed their cognitive abilities, numeracy skills, and problem-solving skills while engaging in hands-on learning experiences.

The Bead Logarithmic Game encouraged children to practice counting, recognize patterns, and strengthen their understanding of numbers through playful exploration.

During the Stick Drawing Game, children enhanced their creativity, fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, focus, concentration, and problem-solving skills. They also demonstrated teamwork, communication, and collaboration as they worked together, shared ideas, and enjoyed meaningful engagement throughout the activity.

Meet Bright Beginnings Dayhome
An amazing licensed Family Childcare in Calgary, Alberta Canada

June 27, 2024

On Wednesday, June 19th 2024, I had the opporutnity to be invited into Bright Beginnings Dayhome. Daisyline and her 6 young explores opened their door and welcoming into their world of learning.

As Daisyline and I unpacked the Alberta In Flight Framework, one phrase she said kept coming back to me. "Children are mighty!" You see, Daisyline was sharing her perspective how the framework has influenced her a view on children and their learning. "Janine," she shared, "it really reminded me that children are mightly. They are capable and the curriculum should be about the child." Daisyline reflected on her approach to planning for the children in her care and how she has adapted a child-led approach and works to co-lead with the children.
