Our students had the exciting opportunity to explore a new sport last week as we welcomed cricket coaches to Delta West Academy.
From learning the basics to trying out new skills, students across the school were fully engaged and eager to take on something different. It was a great way to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, and experience the joy of learning through sport.
At Delta West Academy, we believe in providing diverse opportunities for students to discover their interests and develop new skills both in and beyond the classroom.

A few weeks ago, our students had a fantastic time during their rock climbing experience. It was an exciting opportunity for them to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, and encourage one another along the way.
Activities like this are such a great reminder that learning also happens beyond the classroom. From problem-solving and perseverance to teamwork and trust, our students showed great determination and school spirit throughout the experience. We are so proud of the way they challenged themselves and supported their peers.

Our students had an incredible time celebrating St. Patrickās Day at Delta West Academy. From building creative leprechaun traps to discovering mysterious āfootprintsā in the classroom the next morning, the holiday spirit was alive throughout the school.
The leprechaun may have āvisitedā during the night and managed to sneak away with the gold from every trap, but that only made the excitement even greater. It was such a fun and memorable way for our students to engage in the celebration, use their creativity, and enjoy some festive classroom fun together.
Wishing all of our students and families a wonderful final week before Spring Break.

Our Science classrooms were buzzing with excitement this week as our Grade 7-10 students took part in a hands-on frog dissection activity.
This engaging experience gave students the opportunity to explore anatomy in a real-world context and deepen their understanding of body systems while developing curiosity, precision, and scientific thinking.
What made the day even more special was welcoming our elementary students to observe and learn alongside their older peers. Seeing their role models in action sparked curiosity and inspired future scientific in the making!
At Delta West Academy, learning goes beyond textbooks. Itās about discovery, connection, and meaningful experiences that bring science to life.

š½ļø A Taste of Heritage: Grade 10 Culinary Arts students step onto the Tsuutāina Nation
Our Grade 10 Culinary Arts class had the incredible opportunity to visit the Little Chief Restaurant at Grey Eagle Resort & Casino on the Tsuutāina Nation. There, they were welcomed into a living classroom of culture, stories,
and flavour.
Students had the honour of learning directly from Chef Michael Crowchild, who generously shared his journey as an Indigenous chefāblending traditional knowledge with modern culinary techniques. They also sat with Elder Ivan Eagletail,
who opened his heart and shared powerful, meaningful stories of Tsuutāina heritage, resilience, and the deep connection between land, food, and community.
From hearing about the significance of ingredients rooted in tradition to tasting dishes inspired by Indigenous cuisine, the students experienced something far greater than a field trip. They gained a profound, first-hand understanding
of Indigenous culture and history.
At Delta West Academy, this is what reconciliation truly looks like: building bridges through shared experiences, listening with respect, and creating space for every student to connect with the rich heritage of the land we all
call home.
We are deeply thankful to Chef Michael Crowchild and Elder Ivan Eagletail for their time, wisdom, and generosity. Your kindness left a lasting impression on our students.

Our students came together to celebrate St. Patrickās Day in the most exciting way!
From our ECS, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students teaming up with their older buddies, to working together in a school-wide coin hunt, the day was filled with laughter, teamwork, and joy.
Students also designed and built their own leprechaun traps, showing incredible creativity and collaboration. Everyone was fully engaged, supporting one another and sharing the excitement of the hunt.
Although the leprechaun managed to escape once again⦠leaving behind a mysterious message
Weāre already planning for next year, we will catch it next time!!!
At DWA, moments like these remind us that learning goes beyond the classroom . Itās about connection, creativity, and community. āļøšš©

Our Grade 6 students took their learning to Bulk Barn, applying percentages and decimals while weighing, calculating, and making real purchasing decisions. Experiences like this turn math from something students memorize into something they truly understand.
Because at Delta West, learning isnāt theoretical ā itās practical, engaging, and built for the real world.
