Who better to help us learn about impulse control, than Cookie Monster and our friends from ?!
Impulse control (or self control) is an important self regulation skill for everyone! We learned how to identify something that might be an urge or impulse, and how to “stop and think” before taking action.
You can watch this video (which is fun for grownups too) on NPR’s YouTube Chanel. “Self control for Monsters” (and humans too!) 🍪

We celebrated Pink Shirt day and our 100th day of school this past week. The children designed their own pink shirts, built with 100 cups, assembled 100 blocks, made 100 days of school medals, stuck as many post its notes on their partner in 100 seconds as they could and showed their friends the 100 items they had brought in. It was fun for all!

As inspiration for people attending the paint night fundraiser for our Kindergarten program, the children did their own paintings. It was beautiful to see the uniqueness of each child’s painting even after they had all received the same instructions. ❤️

It has been a fun start to 2026! We worked on our fine motor skills with paper ripping to make snowflakes and our gross motor in big block building. Writing around the room lets the children put skills into practice while also giving choices. Lots of concentration and imagination in our students!

We were so excited to have Teachers Pet Educational Services come out and do their “Healthy Me” program with us. We learned how to properly wash our hands, brush our teeth, identify nutritious foods and recognize hazardous materials in our homes. Special thanks to Mr. T!
