September is coming. 🍎📚

Before the backpacks come out, take a moment to check something even more important:

How ready is your child’s brain?

Don’t wait for the first bad test or overwhelming homework week to find out where the gaps are.

A little preparation now can make the transition much smoother.

📚 A little learning during the summer can make the return to school feel much easier.

Summer lessons do not have to take over the holiday. Even one or two sessions a week can help children review difficult topics, rebuild confidence, and feel more prepared for September.

When students understand the areas that confused them last year, they are less likely to feel like they are starting from scratch.

The goal is not more pressure.

It is giving children the right support so they can return to school feeling calm, prepared, and ready to learn.

If you would like to give your child a head start before school resumes, send us a message to learn more about our summer lessons.

🎲 Math Tip: Probability Must Stay Between 0 and 1

Probability tells us how likely an event is to happen.

It can be written as a:

✅ Fraction
✅ Decimal
✅ Percentage

Remember:

Impossible event = 0
Certain event = 1

For example, a standard die has 6 possible outcomes.

The probability of rolling a 4 is:

1/6 ≈ 0.167 ≈ 16.7%

If your probability is greater than 1 or greater than 100%, something has gone wrong and it is time to check your work.

A simple way to remember it:

0 means impossible.
1 means certain.
Everything else falls somewhere in between.

➗ Math Tip: Check the Denominator First

Fractions become much easier when students understand what the denominator actually represents.

The denominator tells us the size of each piece.

So before adding or subtracting fractions, ask:

Are the denominators the same?

If they are the same, you can combine the numerators directly.

For example:

1/4 + 2/4 = 3/4

But if the denominators are different, like:

1/3 + 1/4

you need to find a common denominator first.

That is because thirds and fourths are different sized pieces, so they cannot be combined directly.

A simple fraction checklist:

✅ Check the denominators
✅ If they match, combine the numerators
✅ If they do not match, find a common denominator
✅ Simplify the final answer if needed
