Being a role model is more than just showing the successful parts of your story. ⭐ Being a role model also means being honest about your life journey - the good and the bad.
We see the success but rarely the failures and hard work it took the get there! 💪 When we show the scrapes and bruises, it tells a different story of perseverance, mental strength, and emotional stamina.

Healthy relationships start when we learn how to respect our own boundaries. 🥰 We often talk about earning respect from others, but it's important to remember that we have to earn respect from ourselves!
When we learn how to treat ourselves respectfully:
💛 We set healthy boundaries with ourselves and with others.
💛 We can educate others on how to treat us respectfully.
💛 We can appreciate how others view and practice respect.
💛 We value how much effort it takes to build a healthy relationship with ourselves and others.

Relationships and respect go hand-in-hand. 👏 Differences are what make us unique as people. We may not always agree with differences in opinions and perspectives, but we can respect them. Everyone deserves to be heard and seen as who they are. 🥰

They say communication is key BUT the key to healthy communication? Respect. Without it, communication can be used as a manipulative and abusive tool.
When we:
💛 respect ourselves enough to say what matters to us
💛 respect the relationship enough to work on it
💛 respect the other person enough to be honest with them
.. then we will find healthy ways to communicate something so that we are clearly understood.
If you want to be heard, then you have to be understood. Oftentimes, that means communicating in a way that the OTHER PERSON understands - based on their communication style and personality.

Our generation faces a self-love crisis. Break. The. Cycle! We spend so much time learning how to love ourselves and how to build healthy relationships.
Teaching healthy boundaries is a form of teaching respect and self-worth.
Healthy boundaries are:
💛 how we form healthy relationships.
💛 how we learn about our own capabilities and preferences.
💛 how we learn self-love, self-respect, and self-love.
We spend so much time healing our inner emotions as adults. Teaching emotion management skills from a young age allows children to build higher levels of emotional intelligence for their own future.

Sometimes our adult brain kicks in and we forget that children learn through mirroring. 🤷♀️ We assume that they'll "eventually pick it up" and that healthy emotion management is a natural skill as they continue to grow.
Nope! Emotional intelligence is a skill learnt AND practiced! 👌 For the first few years, we are their source of knowledge. Practicing emotional intelligence as a way of life from the start is much easier than adopting it as an entirely new habit later on!

There are more words to describe emotions beyond angry, sad, and happy. 😉
When you learn the depths and complexity of emotions, you'll realize that there is a whole range of emotional vocabulary. 🤯
These words can help describe different intensities and slightly different feelings. For example:
🔺 Irritated vs. Frustrated
🔺 Angry vs. Furious
🔺 Calm vs. Contented
🔺 Happy vs. Excited
When you learn the vocabulary of emotions, you can better teach your children how to manage and express their emotions in a healthy way!
