In today's age of credit cards and tap debit, many children do not understand money!

A fun way to help kiddos to engage with learning money, is to have them be in charge of the grocery list! For young children you can cut out pictures of what they are looking for. Write out the cost of what the shopping trip should come to. Count the money with your child. When you get to the checkout, count the money again in front of them.

Older children can do the same scenario, though, they may choose to keep a running total on their phone!

Test prep! Many students get test anxiety prior to completing a test. Other students need support to prepare themselves to write the test. Tailored Tutoring by Mel offers Test Prep sessions that can be booked prior to the test. These are not long term Tutoring sessions but can be booked on an "as needed" basis. These sessions will focus on what the student needs to learn as well as ideas to help them remember information when they write the test. Let's talk about homework! Most parents and children struggle to complete homework together. Many children learn better from someone who is not their parent. Tailored Tutoring by Mel offers one hour homework help sessions for kids Kindergarten to Grade 7! These are not weekly tutoring sessions, but can be booked on an as needed basis. These sessions can be booked over zoom or in person depending on family location. Tailored Tutoring by Mel will support the child to complete their homework assignment and ensure they understand how to do the work. Recommendations will be given to parents at the end of the session if the child needs more sessions. These sessions are $50 per hour and can be booked by sending a message!

One on One tutoring for many children supports their learning by providing "just right work". Tailored Tutoring by Mel provides weekly sessions, up to three per week. Each session is tailored specifically to where your child is at in their learning. Sessions are progressively moved to cover new material as a student completes mastery of learned skill. Sessions also support using all ways of learning. Children will learn using visual, tactile and kinesthetic skills. Sessions can be provided for children Kindergarten to Grade 7 in all subjects. These sessions are one hour and cost $40 per hour.

Tailored Tutoring by Mel was founded by Melissa and inspired by her daughter's struggle with learning. School's have the impossible challenge of meeting every child where they are with many different learning styles and needs. Parents become over run with trying to work and fight their children to do homework. Tailored Tutoring by Mel meets your child where they at. With basic assessments completed in the first couple of sessions and advice from your childs teacher I begin to help fill in the learning gaps.
