Today, our young learners explored the fascinating world of sink and float! Through hands-on discovery, children tested different objects in water and observed what happened — did they sink to the bottom or stay floating on the surface?
This simple yet engaging activity encourages curiosity and scientific thinking, observation and prediction skills, problem-solving and critical thinking, fine motor skills and concentration and vocabulary development through discussion.
Transform your child’s early years education experience and unlock their full potential with real life learning opportunities. Discover how our approach can set your child on the path to success!

ATTENTION: Families seeking more than traditional daycare for their child’s early years.
The first six years of life are not just important, they are foundational. Dr. Maria Montessori described the years from 0–6 as the period of the “Absorbent Mind,” where children naturally absorb language, movement, behavior, emotions, and experiences from the world around them effortlessly and deeply. During these sensitive years, children are not simply learning facts, they are building the foundation of who they will become. This is why the environment matters. We are not simply a place where children are “kept busy.” We are a carefully prepared Montessori environment designed to support the child’s natural development during these critical early years.
Our classrooms are intentionally calm, purposeful, and respectful. Children are guided with gentle consistency while being given meaningful opportunities to develop:
Independence and confidence
Concentration and self-discipline
Grace, courtesy, and social awareness
Practical life skills
A genuine love for learning
Emotional security and belonging
Rather than overstimulation and passive entertainment, Montessori education protects the child’s natural curiosity and nurtures deep engagement with the world around them.
Children only experience the absorbent mind once. The experiences, environment, and relationships they encounter during these early years leave a lasting imprint for life.
If you are seeking a purposeful foundation for your child beyond traditional daycare, we invite you to learn more about our Montessori community.

Feeling incredibly grateful to be able to sponsor our team to be a part of the 30th International Montessori Congress in Mérida.
Over the past few days, we had the opportunity to learn from inspiring Montessori leaders, connect with educators from around the world, and reflect deeply on how we can better serve children and families in our community. The theme “Joyful Journey” reminded us that Montessori is not just a method, it is a way of honoring the full potential of every child.
At TLCMA, we are committed to bringing authentic Montessori education, meaningful relationships, and a nurturing environment to the children and families we serve.
Experiences like this continue to inspire us to grow, evolve, and strengthen our vision for the future of Montessori in Calgary.
We came home with renewed purpose, fresh ideas, and full hearts. Thankful for this unforgettable experience and excited to bring our learnings back to our school community!
