Why play - the work of a child- should go on uninterrupted.

Interruptions are more than just stopping a child’s activity; they can have a profound impact on brain development. When a child is fully engaged in a task, their brain is actively forming and strengthening neural pathways that support problem-solving, concentration, and independence. Every focused moment builds connections that are critical for future learning.

Research shows that interrupting these moments can short-circuit these pathways, making it harder for a child to re-engage and sometimes delaying them from attempting the same task again for hours or even days. This is not just about behaviour or attention, it is about the architecture of the developing brain.

Creating uninterrupted periods of work allows children to fully explore, experiment, and build resilience. By providing the time and space to concentrate, we are helping them develop the cognitive skills that will serve them for a lifetime. Encouraging focus and reducing unnecessary interruptions is one of the most powerful ways to support a child’s growth, independence, and love of learning.

Emotional agility- a big one for some if they do not have the right vocabulary.
Learn to identify the right emotion. Teach the vocabulary to the children you work with. Not only will they be able to turn over better written pieces of work, art pieces, etc they will get a life long understanding of themselves and others.
Checkout the first one.

This is for the days one is unwell.
Are you rushing to work inspite of not feeling well? Popping meditation but still working because otherwise who will do your work?
Wake up! It's NOT your responsibility...there should have been provisions made by the company. Your first priority is you...your health.
( Pssst...been there done that...caused more harm than gain)

Let's talk about emotional granularity. It is the ability to recognize and label emotions with accuracy. Emotions fall under not just a few broad categories like happy, sad, scared, mad but have many more accurate terms. The knowledge of a much deeper nuanced emotional vocabulary is transformative, since now you can identify, understand and communicate what you feel with more clarity. It enables greater emotional regulation and mental well being.
Identify the emotion and love yourself as you heal.

These words by thebraincoach resonated so well. We would have all had times when our judgement was clouded.

Words Matter 07/19/2022

Its been a while since I posted some content. It was getting a wee bit tough too adapt to the changes in personal life, hence I needed to pause and step away for a while.
Starting this journey again by sharing a beautiful video in which Dr Susan David explains so beautifully the need to use the correct words for our feelings.
