Still flying high from their field trip to the airport, and seeing that these Junior Kindergarteners’ passion for all things related to flight was continuing to soar, we reached out to the amazing people at and The Air Canada Foundation is focused entirely on helping children spread their wings, and set us up with Comandante Sandra, who came to do a presentation for all of our Junior Kindergarten classes. She spoke about wanting to become a pilot from age 5 and how she made her dreams come true. Our students had so many questions for her, and she graciously answered each child’s inquiry, and showed us pictures and objects from her daily life as a pilot. Merci beaucoup you have inspired our students to follow their dreams and proved that the sky’s the limit!

As we implement the IB Primary Years Program, we are teaching our students about the ten IB learner profile attributes and how we can exhibit these attributes in our daily lives. In the ECE division, we have been using our collaborative art wall to focus on one attribute per month. This month, we are learning about being knowledgeable, which is defined as, “We develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. We engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance.”  Our students have had great responses to being asked what they know about already and what they would like to learn more about, and we have loved this opportunity to learn more about specific children’s interests. We’re thrilled to have the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean visit us today. It was a pleasure to have Mme Jean engage with our students and speak about her experiences as a child. Her message of overcoming all forms of exclusion inspired us to realize our opportunities for change: “Black History Month is about celebrating our leadership. Together we can overcome all forms of exclusion. We Can enjoy the richness of our diversity.”

For all those who served, are serving, and those who have fallen - thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and our freedom.⁠
