When we got to school this week, students noticed builders hard at work in our schoolyard. In kindergarten, we made predictions about what they were building…maybe swings, a trampoline, the Green Line, a bridge or maybe a new playground? We drew our predictions in our journals and watched from the “yellow line” every time we went outside! They built a shed. Students are full of ideas of what we can put in the shed and teachers are excited for the possibilities this offers for outdoor learning and play. Thank you parent council for this generous gift!

Today students at CNG enjoyed Calgary Opera’s rendition of Little Red Riding Hood. To say the show was loved is an understatement! Thank you calgaryopera for sharing your gift with us and bringing so much JOY to our students.

Our school is so grateful for four days of learning and dancing with Elder Shirley. She shared her stories, her knowledge, and most of all, her love of hoop dancing.

For many students, it was their first time hoop dancing. They kept trying, practicing, and growing—finding joy in the music, the movement, and in their own perseverance.

This experience truly brought our school’s core values to life: inspiring growth, cultivating connection, and finding joy.

If you have a child who turns 5 before December 31, 2026, kindergarten registration is now open for next school year. Registering early helps us plan (and staff) for the year.

Melissa has been awarded the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence – Certificate of Achievement! 🙌

Melissa teaches kindergarten, where she builds a classroom rooted in joy, belonging and inclusion. Her achievements include introducing TouchChat for non-verbal learners, promoting communication through Core Boards, and leading initiatives such as “Save the Bees” and “Joy Days,” which strengthen community connection and early learning. 🐝🤗📖

Alien Inline has taken residence in our gym and students have been busy learning to skate. We are very grateful to have been gifted this opportunity (all classes will participate in lessons before winter break). Thank you! It is amazing how much we improved in just a week! Many of us started hesitant to stand up and finished doing tricks! We are brave like the Buffalo. We can do hard things.

We are excited for our kindergarten families (and other invited guests) to join us this Thursday (Dec 11) from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm for our a “Fine Motor Night”. Come play, build and create with your child and learn how provide easy opportunities to boost these skills.
