A little more music, a little more inspiration! 💛🎶

The Airdrie Public Library has been open for almost a year, and what a wonderful hub of community, connection and creativity it has become! As a local, I’ve loved seeing how APL has gone above and beyond to create a welcoming space that supports the needs of families and kiddos. From free resources and meeting rooms to workshops and so much more, our library has become such an important part of learning and community here in Airdrie. 📚

A few months ago, I reached out to the library about donating some of my music books (The RainbowKeys series) and instruments after noticing that the music section was looking a little empty! Since then, I’ve heard that the books and instruments have been such a hit that the shelves are almost always bare because everything is being borrowed! 🥰

Of course, I had to add a little more music to the mix! I’m so excited to have donated two guitars and two little drum sets to join the keyboards and music resources already available for the community to enjoy. Naturally, my own kiddos had to test out the new instruments that I donated first (and yes, I had to give them a try, too! ). They were so much fun that I may just have to add some to my own studio as well! 🎸🥁

And if you haven’t yet, I highly encourage you to borrow my musical instruments and RainbowKeys books from the Airdrie Public Library! What a wonderful way to explore music at home, try something new with your little ones, and discover what instruments spark their interest, all before committing to your own collection. Another beautiful morning filled with little ones, big smiles, music, movement, and meaningful connection. 💛🎶

This past Saturday, Music with Miss Alison and Dr. Melanie Beingessner of Blessingways Family Wellness came together once again at the Airdrie Public Library for their Massage, Movement & Music Workshop, and our second workshop together was just as special as the first! 🍼✨

Families joined us for a morning focused on connecting with their little ones through intentional touch, movement, rhythm, music, and play. From learning about infant massage and early developmental movement to singing, moving, and making music together, the morning was filled with opportunities to learn and connect. 🤲

And of course, the instruments came out! Watching caregivers and their little ones explore music, rhythm, and movement together was such a sweet reminder that some of the most meaningful moments can be found in the simplest things: a song, a little movement, a gentle touch, and time spent together. 🥹

We loved welcoming both familiar and new faces and creating a space where families could learn something new, connect with one another, and have a little fun along the way. 💕

Ladies paint night: A night of creativity and connection! 🎨

First of all…Airdrie Public Library is pretty incredible. What a beautiful space to bring people together, host events, and create a place where our community can gather and be inspired. 🙏

On Saturday night, creatives of all ages and experience levels came together for a paint night. There was jazz playing in the background, snacks being shared, paint on the tables, and plenty of conversation and laughter. A group of friends and I spent the evening catching up talking about our kiddos, our summer, our hobbies and even some of our business dreams. At times we were laughing so hard we completely forgot about our paintings. At other times, we were quiet enough to hear the saxophone drifting through the room. 🎷

It was just what I needed. There’s something really special about giving yourself permission to step away from the everyday for a few hours. To leave the littles at home, gather with friends, and create something simply because you can! 🖌️

Creativity and connection are two things very close to my heart. I think as adults, we sometimes become afraid of being creative because we’re afraid of getting it wrong. We worry about whether something is “good enough” or whether we’ll make a mistake. But creativity doesn’t really work that way. There is no perfect painting, no single right interpretation, no one way it should look. 💕

In fact, my favourite part of the evening was putting our paintings side by side! We all had the same canvas, paints and prompts but had completely different results. And every single one was beautiful in its own way. What a wonderful reminder to stay curious, keep creating, and not be afraid to express ourselves! ✨

Thank you, Airdrie Public Library and instructor Alicia Suga, for creating such a peaceful, positive and inspiring evening for our community. I left feeling refreshed, grateful and already excited for the next opportunity to get a little paint on my hands! 🎨

Cancer has touched my music community in a very personal way 💛

Just weeks after her first birthday, one of my students, Baby H, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. With her mom’s permission, I’ve shared a little of her story before, and today I’m sharing an article that offers more insight into what this local Airdrie family has been walking through. I am so incredibly proud of Baby H. And I am in awe of her parents and siblings: their strength, love and resilience through something no family should ever have to face. 🙏

When Baby H’s family had to step away from music classes and travel back and forth to Toronto for life-saving treatment, I remember feeling so helpless being here in Alberta. I started recording and sharing singalongs so we could stay connected from afar, but their journey opened my eyes to just how much families need beyond medical care when a child is diagnosed with cancer. They need meals, practical support, and community. That’s one of the reasons I chose to support Helping Families Handle Cancer, an organization that has directly supported Baby H’s family and so many other families navigating childhood cancer. 💛

Next week, I’ll be attending Helping Families Handle Cancer Gala, and I’m honoured to be sponsoring it as well as volunteering on the gala committee. 🥰

I hope you’ll take a moment to read Baby H’s story, celebrate this amazing family with me, and remember that supporting others can make a bigger difference than we sometimes realize. 🥹

Feeling LA Inspired! ✨🎵🎬

I came home from Los Angeles this past weekend feeling SO full. My husband Brad and I had the most wonderful two days, and I think what struck me most wasn’t just the places we went or the things we saw, but how much creativity, connection and joy seemed to be everywhere.

☕️ Painted lattes (because even coffee can be art!)
🎶 Live music
🎬 Hollywood sets
🌅 An incredible sunset
⭐️ Stars in the sky
☁️ Flying above the clouds
📖 Time to read
❤️ And lots of delicious food and awesome drinks!

And then… we saw OneRepublic at the Hollywood Bowl. Sitting under the stars with 18,000 people, listening to those incredible strings play alongside the music, was one of those moments that nearly brought me to tears. There was something so beautiful about thousands of people coming together simply to experience music. 🎶

It reminded me once again why I believe so deeply in creativity. Creativity takes courage, and it is alive and well in LA. ✨

But perhaps my biggest takeaway was something much simpler: slowing down enough to notice:

I noticed friends laughing and telling stories around a restaurant.
I enjoyed a delicious coffee…and then a very delicious affogato.
I had uninterrupted conversation with my favourite person (Brad).
I made friends with two sisters sitting beside me at the concert.
I sat next to a kind stranger on the airplane who reminded me of my late friend Rebecca.
A random woman at the airport walked past and told me I looked pretty.
And I listened to a song about the West Coast…while driving along the West Coast.

There were so many tiny moments that could have easily passed by unnoticed. Most of all, I noticed the kindness we experienced, the connection I witnessed, and the joy that comes when we give ourselves permission to slow down and actually be present. And of course, getting to share it all with Brad made it even more special. ❤️

I’m feeling very grateful, and very inspired! Here’s to noticing the little things, finding beauty everywhere, and continuing to make room for creativity in our lives. 🎵✨

A JoyMakers class created especially for your little one’s first year! 🎶👶

If you have a baby between 6–12 months, I created this special JoyMakers parented class just for you! 💛

The baby stage is such a unique time of development, and this class is intentionally slower-paced and designed specifically for little ones in this early stage. We’ll sing, explore music and instruments, move, connect, and enjoy those sweet little moments together…all at a pace that works for babies. 🥰

I’m also so excited to incorporate specific movements that support healthy brain development in infants, inspired by the work I’ve had the opportunity to do alongside Dr. Melanie Beingessner of Blessingways Family Wellness through our collaborative workshops at the Airdrie Public Library. 📚

Pinch me…I’m a finalist!! 🥹🎹🌈

I’m incredibly emotional and honoured to share that Music with Miss Alison has been selected as one of five finalists for the Home-Based Business Award at the Airdrie Regional Business Awards, presented by the Airdrie Regional Chamber of Commerce. 🎶

Eleven years ago, I opened my home-based music studio with a love for teaching and a dream of sharing the joy of music with children and families. I could never have imagined all the places that dream would take me…or all the incredible people I would meet along the way. ✨

When I look back now, I don't just see a business that has grown. I see the hundreds of little moments that have meant so much to me. The tiny hands learning to play their first notes. The singing, dancing, giggles and joy in our classes. The little ones who have grown right before my eyes. The parents who have trusted me with their children and welcomed me into such an important part of their lives. That is what this journey has always been about for me: people, connection, relationships and the joy of sharing music together. 🙏

So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. 😊

Thank you to every family who has chosen my programs, brought your little ones to class, trusted me as their music teacher, shared my business with a friend, sent an encouraging message, or supported me in ways you may not even realize. 🥰

Music with Miss Alison may have started in my home, but it has been built by an incredible community of families who have believed in me and grown alongside me over the past 11 years. 🙌
