WHAT IS "SPEECH ARTS"?
Although speech is an ability native to most people, it cannot be concluded that all people speak well or that all speakers are artists. What separates common speaking from the art of speech is the application of a technique: the skillful use of a speaker's tools. These tools are varied and may include: breath, volume, articulation, inflection, gesture, eye contact, and body movement. A speaker's technique serves to amplify and strengthen the impulses for speech even further than what is normally expected from an average speaker, thereby elevating the action of speaking into the art of speech.
