Starting tomorrow, Monday, August 24, the school office will reopen with limited summer office hours from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please note that the school building is not officially open during this time.

📧 Student class placement will be emailed to families by the end of the day on Friday, August 28th. We kindly ask that families do not contact the school regarding class placements before this time.

📋 Attached is a link to our June Newsletter, which contains important start-up information, including office hours, Open House details, school supply information, and other key reminders. We encourage all families to review it carefully.

Field Day Fun!

What an amazing Field Day! Our students enjoyed a day full of fun, laughter, teamwork, and school spirit.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our staff and volunteers who helped organize, set up, supervise activities, and ensure the day ran smoothly. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm made this special event possible.

A very special thank you to our School Council for generously providing lunch for all participants. Your continued support helps create memorable experiences for our students and school community.

National Indigenous History Month at Heloise Lorimer School

Throughout June, Heloise Lorimer School proudly recognized National Indigenous History Month by providing meaningful learning opportunities that celebrated the histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples.

Our month began on June 3 with a special ground blessing led by Elder Ruby and Shayla. The blessing was held to honour the new trees that Mr. Stelkic was adding to our school grounds, and they shared their knowledge and teachings with our school community.

We welcomed the Violets Michif Dancers, who shared Métis culture through traditional dance and storytelling. Henri, a Woodland Cree author whom students recognized from our land acknowledgement video shown at assemblies, visited our Division 1 classes to read her book, Sharing the Land We Call Home. A copy of the book was provided to each grade level to support ongoing learning and discussion.

Students also learned from Maryann, who shared teachings about her Dan’axla’xw culture and traditions. In addition, The Running Rabbits provided powwow dance demonstrations, helping students learn about regalia, the significance of different dances, and the stories behind each dance.

These experiences offered valuable opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of Indigenous cultures, perspectives, and ways of knowing while supporting our ongoing commitment to learning, respect, and reconciliation. We are grateful to all of our guests for sharing their knowledge, stories, and traditions with our students and staff.

Congratulations to all of our Kindergarteners who were knighted today!
A special shout-out to School Council and all of the parents who helped decorate the gym for the Kindergarten and Grade 6 events. Your hard work transformed the gym into a beautiful space for these special celebrations. Thank you for helping make these memorable milestones even more meaningful for our students and families!

The last day for Lost and Found will be June 25. On June 26 all items will be donated.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Sawatzky for the countless hours of hard work, creativity, and dedication she put into making our yearbook amazing. It is clear how much she enjoys working on it and how much pride she takes in creating something special for all of us.

We would also like to thank all of our teachers for their cooperation and for sharing photos throughout the year. Your contributions helped capture the memories, achievements, and special moments that make this year's yearbook so meaningful.

If you see Mrs. Sawatzky in the hallway, be sure to give her a high five and a well-deserved thank you for all she has done!
