Following on from our last post about respect and sportsmanship in Jiu-Jitsu, I just want to say how proud I am of everyone from our little gym.
From the very beginning, this is exactly what our students and coaches have shown on the competition mats.
Win or lose, our team has always stepped off the mat with respect for their opponents, humility in victory, and dignity in defeat.
Medals and results are great, but the culture we build on the mats is far more important.
These photos are just a few moments from past competitions that show what our team is really about.
Proud of every single person who represents our gym.

As a coach, moments like this make me proud to teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Competitors are often driven by results and achievements. That’s how they see the hard work they’ve put into training paying off when they step onto the competition mats.
But as a coach, what makes me even more proud isn’t just the medals or the wins.
It’s the respect.
The sportsmanship.
The humility.
Seeing the athletes you coach shake hands, be grateful, stay humble, and show respect to their opponents — win or lose — is what Jiu-Jitsu is really about.
Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, and it should be teaching these values to everyone who steps on the mat.
Win or lose — be respectful.
Be grateful.
Stay humble.
In every match, someone wins and someone loses…
But if you carry yourself the right way, everyone can walk away feeling like a winner.

As everything starts to settle into the new year, now is a great time to take advantage of our one-week free trial.
This gives you the opportunity to come in, meet the great BJJ community we’re building, and experience how our classes are structured to cover all aspects of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and grappling.
