Kat Theophanous MP visited our school this morning to officially open our upgraded toilets.
The whole school gathered for the occasion, and the message to the students and staff from our Principal Douglas and local MP Kat was that investing in schools, education and kids futures matters.
A nice toilet isn’t just about a place that looks pretty- it’s more important than that. It’s about ensuring students are comfortable in that space, that it is hygienic, that it’s not old and rundown which may mean some kids choose not to use them and hold all day. Nice facilities also send that subliminal message which is “you matter”.
Our school has a proud history of over 100 years, and as such, investment in the infrastructure is important. The culture of the school is so special, and now according to the kids 5 star reviews, we have the toilets to match!
Thank you to the students and staff for their patience during the works, the school staff and leadership, council and parent and carer community for their ongoing advocacy for Pender’s Grove, and to Kat for securing funding.
We hope this is the beginning of ongoing investment in our school’s physical environment and we’ll continue to foster the supportive learning environment that we are so lucky to have.

Our beloved Winter Solstice event returns on Thursday 18th June!
This is a free community event for our students and their families with an annual lantern parade, crafts, live music, games and glow in the dark face painting!
Warm up with toasted marshmallows, hot chocolate and mulled wine. Fill up with a sausage sizzle and soup - and don’t forget to BYO mug for soup.
A very special thanks to our event partner in Alphington who make the event look so spectacular.
