Revesby Driving Test Tips – The Final Challenge 🚗✅

You’re almost back at the Service Centre… but don’t switch off mentally yet!

One of the last challenges before finishing your driving test is turning right into the car park. Vehicles can suddenly appear from behind the building, Because your view is blocked, it’s easy to miss an oncoming car if you rush the turn.

✔️ Slow down.
✔️ Stop if your view isn’t clear.
✔️ Look carefully in both directions before committing to the turn.
✔️ Remember: the test isn’t over until you’ve parked and secured the vehicle.

Many learners relax too early and make mistakes in the final few seconds. Stay focused all the way to the end.

Not every driver on the road is predictable.

If you notice the vehicle in front:
• Drifting left and right within the lane
• Crossing lane markings
• Moving onto the opposite side of the road
• Braking or accelerating unexpectedly

🚗 Here’s what learner drivers should do:

✅ Increase your following distance immediately. Give yourself more time to react.

✅ Stay calm and avoid driving alongside the vehicle if it’s safe to do so.

✅ Be prepared to brake or take evasive action if the driver makes a sudden movement.

✅ Don’t feel pressured to overtake. Only pass if it’s legal, safe, and you have a clear view ahead.

✅ Stay focused on what’s happening further up the road, not just the car directly in front.

Remember, you don’t know why another driver is behaving this way. They could be distracted, unwell, tired, or experiencing a mechanical issue. Your job isn’t to judge them—it’s to protect yourself and everyone else on the road.

Safe driving is about creating space, staying alert, and making good decisions.

🚸 DRIVING TEST DURING SCHOOL ZONE HOURS?

Many learner drivers get nervous when they hear their driving test is scheduled during school zone times. But it isn’t always a disadvantage!

❌ Challenges:
• Extra observation and scanning required
• Need to identify school zone signs early
• Must manage your speed carefully at 40 km/h
• Watch for children, pedestrians and increased traffic activity

✅ Advantages:
• Traffic generally moves slower
• Less pressure from vehicles behind you
• More time to assess hazards and make decisions
• More opportunities to demonstrate safe driving habits to the examiner

Remember: the examiner isn’t looking for a perfect driver. They’re looking for a SAFE driver.

If you can maintain the correct speed, scan effectively, and show good hazard awareness, a school zone can actually help you demonstrate the skills needed to pass.

Don’t sit behind a truck for too long!

Large trucks create huge blind spots. If you can’t see the truck driver’s mirrors, chances are they can’t see you either.

Staying directly behind a truck also limits your view of the road ahead, making it harder to spot hazards, traffic changes, or sudden braking.

When it’s safe and legal, move out of the blind spot and pass decisively. Don’t linger beside a truck, and don’t tailgate.

A good driver doesn’t just control their car—they position it where they can see and be seen.

🚛 Hazard lights ahead… What would your teenager do?

I was driving in the middle lane when I noticed a truck stopped in the left lane with its hazard lights on. The right lane was clear, so I chose to move over and create more space.

This is what defensive driving is all about.

Safe drivers don’t just react to what’s directly in front of them. They anticipate what could happen next:
⚠️ Someone opening a door unexpectedly
⚠️ A pedestrian stepping onto the road
⚠️ Another driver making a sudden lane change

These real-life decisions aren’t always covered in the driving handbook, but they can make all the difference on the road.

For parents: Getting a licence is important, but teaching young drivers how to think ahead and manage risks is what builds safe driving habits for life.

For learners: Don’t just learn how to pass the test—learn how to drive with confidence and awareness.

Navigating a multi-level car park can be one of the trickiest situations for learner drivers. 🚗🪞

Those convex mirrors on the walls aren’t just decorations—they’re there to help you spot oncoming vehicles before turning blind corners. Learning how and when to use them can make a huge difference to your confidence and safety.

Good driving isn’t about rushing. It’s about observation, anticipation, and making smart decisions.

Want to become a safer, more confident driver? Let’s build those skills together, one lesson at a time.

Highway driving tips

If your heart races when the lanes start splitting and the exits start flying by, you’re definitely not alone. Highway anxiety is incredibly common—but it’s a skill you can master.

3 Quick Tips for Your Next Highway Drive:

1️⃣ Look 15 seconds ahead – Don’t just stare at the bumper in front of you. Spot your exit signs early so you aren't rushing to change lanes.
2️⃣ Check that blind spot – Mirrors aren't enough when cars are moving fast. Always do a quick over-the-shoulder check before moving.
3️⃣ Missed your exit? Keep going! – Never panic-brake or cut across lanes. Just take the next exit safely and let the GPS reroute.

Some learners don’t fail because they can’t drive.

They fail because they were taught under pressure.

If your last lesson made you more nervous instead of more confident — it’s time to change that.

🚗 Revesby Driving Test Tip: Right Turn at Traffic Lights

One common mistake learners make during the Revesby driving test is hesitating on right turns at traffic lights.

✅ What you should do:
- When the light is green, move forward into the intersection and wait
- Keep your wheels straight and give way to oncoming traffic and pedestrians

🔴 If the light turns red while you're waiting:
- Don’t panic — if you’ve already entered the intersection, you should complete the turn when it’s safe
- Oncoming cars will stop, and that’s your chance to finish the turn smoothly

❌ Avoid this:
- Waiting behind the line for too long (shows lack of confidence)
- Rushing the turn unsafely
- Getting stuck in the intersection

💡 Simple rule:
“Move on green, finish safely — even if it turns red.”

Mastering this shows confidence and good decision-making — something testers at Revesby are always looking for.
