It’s a delight and honour to share this link and edify this wonderfully unique man I’ve met and studied under: Ron Davis. I worked as one of his dyslexia facilitators and autism coaches for many years and I owe him most of my understanding, knowledge and wisdom around neurodivergent individuals. Thank you, Ron, for sharing your story in this book to keep as your legacy, together with your many other books, ‚the Gift of Dyslexia‘ being one of them.
💬 Testimonial Tuesday 💬
Ron’s story is now in the world.
This weekend, during Davis Neurodiversity Day,
we quietly shared something we’ve been working towards for a long time.
Dummy: the Autobiography of a “retard”
by Ron Davis
is now available.
Before speech.
Before memory.
Ron made sense of the world
by shaping letters in clay.
This is his story —
in his own words.
A first-hand account of growing up
without speech or memory until the age of nine…
and what it took
to begin understanding life.
It is raw.
At times painful.
Often surprising.
And deeply illuminating.
For those working with neurodivergent learners,
it offers something rare:
an inside view
of the experience behind the labels.
For parents,
it brings understanding —
and often recognition.
And for many,
it is simply
a remarkable human story.

If you do read it,
We’d truly value hearing what stands out to you.
And if you’re able to leave a review,
it helps this story reach
the families who need it most...
Thank you for being part of this work!
