Something we didn't anticipate when we started this. 🪵
Kids from different schools, different ages, who'd never have met otherwise - building something next to one another, becoming fast friends.
They banter, have inside jokes.... and occasionally team up to annoy Sindre. 😎
Some of them are already counting down to the next session, so they can hang again.
We didn't plan for that part. But it might be our favourite thing. ❤️

Kids who didn't want to go home. Friendships that weren't planned. Snacks that disappeared suspiciously fast. Projects that took on a life of their own. And a brand new space to do it all in.
We don't take any of this for granted.

We built a woodworking workshop for kids.
We thought we were giving them a skill. Something real to make with their hands. A space to have fun.
We didn't realise we were also giving them this:
"THIS LOOKS REALLY GOOD!!"
"I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF!!!"
We hear that in this room every single week.

Ten years ago today, he made me a mother.
And made us parents.
He also made us want to build something worthy of the world he's going to inherit.
He loves making things with his hands.
He loves the earth.
He asks questions we don't always have answers to.
Ask & Embla exists because of him.
Because kids like him deserve spaces made for them.
Today he turns 10.
And we are forever grateful he chose us.
Happy birthday to our favourite reason for everything.
And to the day that started it all.
To everyone navigating today in whatever way it finds you - we're thinking of you. 🤍
