🤍 "Trust in the Lord for true peace and strength." Hundreds of Year 7, 8 and 9 students from across Sydney Catholic Schools gathered at Mount St Joseph Catholic College, Milperra for this year's Evangelisation Day - a day of faith, music, prayer and meaningful conversations.

Through inspiring keynote speakers, worship led by All Saints Youth, moments of reflection, and Eucharistic Adoration, students were encouraged to deepen their relationship with Christ and discover how faith can be a source of peace, purpose and strength in their everyday lives.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a memorable experience, and to our students for embracing every opportunity to listen, reflect and grow in faith together.

The 2026 ArtsHQ Classical Music Recital celebrated the talent, dedication and excellence of young musicians from across Sydney Catholic Schools.

Performing at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, outstanding soloists and ensembles selected through Eisteddfod performances and video auditions demonstrated the confidence and discipline they have developed through their musical journeys.

Now in its fourth year, the recital continues to provide students with an opportunity to perform, connect and share their love of music.

Success is about more than a score. At Sydney Catholic Schools, we focus on educating the whole person, with NAPLAN providing one measure of student progress along the way.

In 2026, 23,172 students across 145 Sydney Catholic Schools sat NAPLAN, with the number of students achieving Strong or Exceeding numeracy bands increasing by 846 compared with 2024. Year 7 recorded the strongest improvement across the system.

As Director of Education and Research Kevin Carragher says "the gains we are seeing across different year levels and schools show what sustained, high-quality teaching can achieve.”

Congratulations to Scout Koernig from OLMC Burraneer, who has completed an unbeaten cross-country season by claiming gold at the Sydney Catholic Schools, NSW Combined Catholic Colleges and NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships.

Her outstanding performances have now earned her selection to represent New South Wales at the School Sport Australia Cross Country Championships this September.

A powerful journey of culture, connection and creativity has begun.

Through Bangarra Dance Theatre’s 2026 Rekindling Youth Program, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from across the Botany–Randwick network will connect with culture, Country and community through dance.

Guided by local Aboriginal Elders and Bangarra’s Youth Programs Team, students will explore local stories, languages and histories, culminating in a special performance this month.

What an extraordinary achievement! For the second year in a row, Southern Cross Catholic College has been named Secondary School of the Year – Non-Government at the 2026 Australian Education Awards, presented by The Educator.

The Educator

Celebrating the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia's first saint, whose legacy of faith, compassion and service continues to inspire our school communities.

At St Joseph the Worker Catholic Primary School Auburn South, Mr Stefanychyn and his student cast brought St Mary MacKillop's story to life through a moving performance, helping students reflect on her remarkable life and mission.

Meanwhile, Regina Coeli Catholic Primary School Beverly Hills Family Educator, Miss Elly, led parents, grandparents and young siblings on a faith-filled pilgrimage to Mary MacKillop Place, where they celebrated Mass and Adoration, prayed at St Mary MacKillop's tomb and explored the museum together.

As our schools gather to celebrate Australia's first saint, we give thanks for the educators who nurture faith in our communities and inspire others to live out St Mary MacKillop's enduring message: "Never see a need without doing something about it." 🙏 Happy Feast Day, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

The blessing and official opening of the completed campus at St Anthony of Padua Catholic College Austral, marked an important milestone for a rapidly growing community grounded in faith, learning and belonging.

Students, staff and families were joined by distinguished guests, including NSW Premier Chris Minns, who reflected on the unique opportunity for students and families to help lay the foundations of a young school community and shape its culture for generations to come.

Sydney Catholic Schools Executive Director Danielle Cronin reflected on the college's remarkable journey:

"It’s remarkable to think that it was only in 2017 that this school first began its journey. In that time, we’ve seen a close-knit cohort of what was initially 42 students grow into a thriving, bustling college of nearly 1,800 students, a testament to the confidence families have placed in the college and the strength of its mission."

May this completed campus continue to inspire generations of students as they grow in knowledge, faith and service.
