Today at Hinchinbrook PS, we came together to commemorate ANZAC Day and honour those who have served our country.

We reflected on the landing of Australian and New Zealand troops at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915, a moment that remains an important part of our nation’s history.

ANZAC Day is Australia’s most significant day of national commemoration. Each year on 25 April, we pause to remember and honour the service and sacrifice of Australia’s servicemen and women in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

Thank you to our Prefects and Captains for leading this assembly with the dignity and respect it deserved, and to the members of our community for providing the beautiful flowers for our ceremony.

Lest We Forget.

A huge thank you to our fabulous P&C team for once again funding the Wooglemai Day Camp for our Year 6 students! We truly appreciate your ongoing support of our students and school community. 💙

Our Year 6 students had an amazing experience at Wooglemai Environmental Education Centre, which provides an excellent learning environment for leadership and peer support training.

Throughout the day, students participated in a series of exciting initiative games, including Plank Steppers, Spider’s Web, Floor is Lava, and Golf Ball Run. These structured team challenges encouraged students to work together to solve problems, think creatively, and support one another.

These activities helped students to develop valuable life skills as they learned to:
⭐ Work cooperatively
⭐ Problem solve
⭐ Think creatively
⭐ Persevere
⭐ See mistakes as opportunities for learning
⭐ Act as strong team players

It was a fantastic day filled with fun, teamwork, leadership, and learning. Thank you again to our wonderful P&C for making opportunities like this possible for our students! 🌿👏

We hope everyone had a lovely and relaxing break from school life.
📣📣📣 A reminder that school resumes tomorrow, Wednesday 22nd April. Also, a reminder for parents of Stage 3 students: the excursion to Wooglemai is tomorrow.

In the last week of Term 1, there were many wonderful celebrations, including the Blue Award Assembly, the Positive Behaviour for Learning reward parties, and the Hat Parades.

We look forward to another term filled with lots of fun, learning, and exciting experiences for all students.

We are incredibly proud of the success of our Reading Tutor Program throughout Term 1. This initiative has been a wonderful example of student leadership, commitment and teamwork, with our Reading Tutors showing outstanding dedication each week as they supported their younger reading buddies.
A huge congratulations to all of our dedicated and hard-working Reading Tutors for their commitment to the program this term. Your enthusiasm, responsibility and care have made a meaningful difference, and we are so proud of the positive impact you have had on others.
We are pleased to share that the Reading Tutor Program will continue in Term 2, beginning in Week 3. Further information will be provided to existing Reading Tutors and their reading buddies prior to the program recommencing.
Thank you to our students, P&C and families for your continued support of this valuable program.

Today at Hinchinbrook Public School, we came together to celebrate Harmony Day in a vibrant and joyful way! Harmony Day is all about recognising and celebrating Australia’s rich cultural diversity, and promoting the values of respect, inclusiveness and a sense of belonging for everyone. It reminds us that “Everyone Belongs,” no matter where we come from or what our background may be.

Our staff and students embraced the spirit of the day by dressing in orange – the official colour of Harmony Day, symbolising social communication and meaningful conversations – or by proudly wearing cultural attire that reflects their heritage. Throughout the day, classrooms were filled with engaging activities in which students listened to stories that celebrated diversity and explored cultures from around the world.

It was wonderful to see our school community come together, showing kindness, respect and pride in the many cultures that make Hinchinbrook Public School such a special place.🥰
