1️⃣ Stop running the scale up and down. Play cascades instead. It’s the same notes but grouped in small repeating patterns, so instead of sounding like a warm up you’re actually building speed and learning the shape at the same time. Your hands remember fun patterns way better than they remember straight lines.

2️⃣ Pick one lick and play it in three keys before you learn a new one. Same shape, different starting fret. That’s what turns a lick you memorised into a lick you own.

3️⃣ End your phrases on the root note (eg. Land on A on A Minor Pentatonic). Play any run you like, then land on the root and let it ring. It’s the difference between sounding like you finished and sounding like you ran out of ideas.

1️⃣ Steal licks from your favourite solos and practise them in different keys so you can actually use them/change them up slightly while improvising.

2️⃣ Get your bends in tune by matching them to the target note (e.g. bend 5th fret G string to match the 6th fret for half-step bend, 7th fret for whole-step bend).

3️⃣ Record yourself often. You’ll notice poor timing, weak vibrato and sloppy phrasing that you don’t hear while playing live. TRUST ME ON THIS.

4️⃣ Spend at least 10 minutes improvising over a backing track using the concepts you’ve learned.
