The Knit Space

As 2017 comes to a close I'm looking back on what I've achieved and the highlights. One that really stands out was running a machine knitting session with the kids of Ashfield public school as part of .workshops. Can you believe a group of kindys and yr 1 students designed and knit this cushion collectively. They loved it and their enthusiasm was so uplifting! //

Such a fantastic bunch of knitters today for the first week of the Stitch and Pattern workshop . It's so interesting when you get experienced handknitters in to learn machine knitting, we had great chats about the capabilities of machine knitting versus hand knitting. Ultimately both are fantastic for different reasons and knowing both really opens up your design possibilities.

Another fantastic bunch of students in our introduction to machine knitting workshop yesterday. This photo was taken when all the new skills are brought together into the students own design in a beautiful merino blend.

It's not hard to spot where the colour inspiration for this piece came from!

Who needs Vivid when you've got this while you work? 💥A beautiful old soul of a knitting machine that I'm restoring needs some new screws and this is how I'm making them the right length. Thanks for providing the machinery ! .

Its stock take and reorder day! I just love looking at all the colours sitting together ready to be knit up.....so many colour combo options.

Introducing The Ennis scarf.

Our The Knit Space studio is in the amazing MakerSpace & Co warehouse in Marrickville. We love the fact that we are surrounded by so many talented makers, designers and craftspeople. The open day this Sunday is a great way to check it out and see what you can learn or make at Makerspace & Co.
