Wonderful news for the NT. 🙏

💥BREAKING NEWS💥Voluntary assisted dying has been restored to the Northern Territory.
The NT Legislative Assembly has tonight voted unanimously on the voices to pass the Rights of the Terminally Ill Bill 2026.
We are disappointed no improvements to the bill were successful. Nonetheless, this is an historic moment for the Territory and the country. The NT now joins the rest of Australia in legalising end-of-life choice.
Congratulations to all who worked tirelessly for 30 years to restore Territorians’ democratic right to decide for themselves on VAD.

Term 4 opens up this October, and it’s built for the way your life actually runs — modules online, on your laptop anytime, including after bedtime or your phone at 5am while you’re feeding.

Here’s the part that matters most: this is accredited training. Not a weekend workshop. It’s the qualification that means a midwife, a hospital, a client takes you seriously the moment you walk into the room — and in Australia, it’s the only one of its kind.

Birth and postpartum, together — because almost nobody stops needing support the minute the baby arrives.

You’ll also do three supported placements. Not shadowing from the corner. Real births, with 24/7 support behind you and a proper debrief afterwards from one of our experienced team, so you’re not left carrying it alone.

If you’ve been circling this for a year — reading about it, following the accounts, quietly wondering whether you’re qualified enough to help — you already know the answer. That’s usually what the pull means.

Term 4 starts October 2026

Did you know?

Do we have to use a funeral director to conduct a burial?

No! You do NOT have to use a funeral director, you can:

▪ keep a person at home after death
▪ take a body home from hospital, an Aged Care Facility or the coroner
▪ build your own coffin
▪ sew your own shroud
▪ dig and back-fill the grave (with cemetery permission)

You’ve heard us talk about this one for a while. It’s now yours to watch.

Foundations of Parenting: Short documentary on the Doula Support Solutions Program is officially available to view along with the full research report.

The film was made on Gadigal Country, with the Renee Adair, Deborah Nolan, our Doulas, and the families themselves. The research was led by Associate Professor Jessica Liddell (University of Montana School of Social Work) and Associate Professor Sarah Ireland (Molly Wardaguga Research Institute, Charles Darwin University)

Separating families at birth or in the early months isn’t just heartbreaking. It’s costly. Children, parents and whole communities carry the weight of it for years. This is the evidence that there’s another way.

Watch it, then send it to one person outside our world: a midwife, a caseworker, someone in policy, a friend who’s never heard the word Doula. That’s how this work reaches the families who need it.

HAPPY WORLD BREASTFEEDING WEEK 🥰

Breastfeeding is more than nutrition — it's connection, comfort, and one of the many ways parents bond with their little ones. But let's be honest: whist breastfeeding is natural, it doesn't always come naturally. it's not always easy. Positioning, supply worries, and sleepless nights are real.

Did you know........Our doulas offer hands-on tips and tricks for latching, positioning, and feeding — plus a calm, judgment-free presence to help build your confidence, when you need it most.

However you feed your baby, we're in your corner. 💪

Hiring a doula can reduce stress and confusion before, during and after the birth of your baby 🤗

THE TRUTH ABOUT BIRTH TRAUMA IN AUSTRALIA

1 in 3 women/birthing people describe their birth as traumatic!!! With around 1 in 10 experiencing some form of obstetric violence - think coercion, being denied pain relief, not having informed consent sort before a procedure or not even knowing what the procedure is or your right to refusal taken seriously.

Whist we of course believe everyone needs and deserves a doula to help find there voices in labour, we also know that doulas offering continuity of care, education, physical and emotional support, is just one piece of a giant puzzle.

We do know doula research consistently links continuous labour support with fewer interventions, more positive birth experiences and greater satisfaction - regardless of how someone gives birth.

We know a doula can't guarantee a particular outcome but we can offer better human connections than the system has to offer right now.

We all need to be screaming for urgent systemic change!!! These shocking stats are not acceptable.

BIRTH MATTERS - women carry their labour and birth stories for their entire lives. Birth trauma comes with enormous cost to individuals, families, communities and ultimately all of us.

If you have experienced birth trauma, we see you, we hear you and you are not alone.

Wow what a weekend!

Renee joined friends and film makers Lawurrpa MAYPILAMA, Sarah Ireland, Pat Josse and the wonderful Djakamirr Tayna at the Melb film festival.
Another full house, MAYPILAMA was a stand out amongst many great indigenous stories told.

We are so proud of this continued collaboration making a real difference in the lives of First Nations women and babies.

DSS and WTTF will be screening the documentary Maypilama, Keel line of creation in September in Brisbane, gold Coast and Sydney, and we can't wait to share it with you.
