Amit Tandon completed his MBA from IITD in the year 2000. Was he a born comedian and /or did he want to be a comedian when he was in IIT

Fast forward to 2022, Amit has completed performing over 1400 Live shows across the world, has his own new late-night comedy show “Good Night India” on a leading National TV channel, has been /is on Netflix ++

On another front. It was April 2016 when Prof Ramgopal Rao took over as Director, IIT Delhi. So, what were his thoughts at that time - what were the opportunities and challenges - how did he go about developing his vision and what was his vision for the institute anyway

Fast forward to Feb 2022 - Prof Ramgopal Rao finishes his term as Director IITD and by any KPIs, IITD is quite a different place now

Metaverse - Asia Pacific perspectives
Asia Pacific is not one homogeneous entity but a region consisting of number of countries with different characteristics like populations, languages ++

As an example, Let's look at 2020 population of some of the countries (in increasing order)

- Singapore - 5.68 million
- Malaysia - 32.4 million
- Thailand - 69.8 million
- Indonesia - 273.5 million
- India - 1.38 billion

Does this tell us anything about how Metaverse is evolving in each of APAC countries ?

Different countries are in different stages of digitisation & globalisation - and so is the state of metaverse in these countries. Current State -

In the Metaverse ecosystem - where we are at the moment
- is moving in rapidly & investing
- Thousands of in almost every country - mostly - highly fragmented
- highly dominated by players
- Most & related players cheering away & predicting a new dawn
- demand side curiously wondering what is this metaverse, is this the , should I jump into this & how do I go about it

It is an asymmetric, imperfect & crowded marketplace driven by supply side. At the same time most through their promotion arms are wanting their vr ar companies to look at overseas

So if you are an immersive tech what should be you as well as strategy

This is now going to be an interesting & topical theme. Enjoyed presenting at GMV 2021 conference

Oh No, not the Metaverse again !!!

So what's new about one of the most commonly used /misused word

Well, for one, there is no agreement on - is Metaverse only or is it virtual + real world

What about all the closed /semi closed /open mini metaverses being built by Facebook Microsoft Epic Games Unity SK Telecom Tencent NVIDIARoblox & many more - are each one of them individually called Metaverse or are they collectively a Metaverse ? Of course are these individual mini Metaverses going to talk to each other?

While conceptually Metaverse has been around 1992, it has been re-discovered by Big Tech during the pandemic with all of us spending so much time and in isolation

Billions of dollars continue to be invested in the Metaverse - so which countries are leading work in Metaverse

What are the building blocks of Metaverse

How are brands interacting with Metaverse
