ABOUT MYSELF:
Since I was a very young child, I knew I wanted to work with young children. I have provided both paid and voluntary care and education to children in one form or another, since I was 14 years old. After finishing school in 2000, I commenced studying Early Childhood Education and Care at TAFE, earning my Diploma in 2002. I decided to further my study in 2012 by studying a Bachelors Degree in Teaching children from birth - five years old. I have been working in the Early Childhood sector since earning my Diploma in 2002 in various long day care services. However, after giving birth to my second child in 2015, I decided that Family Day Care would be a more relevant professional option for my growing family. I am now the very proud Mum of two beautiful school-aged children. I love that Family Day Care provides me with an avenue to be able to still care for my own children, whilst allowing me to practise my knowledge and skills in Early Childhood in a professional setting. ABOUT MY SEVICE:
I believe in providing children with a safe, nurturing, inclusive environment, where they are free to learn at their own pace through a combination of play, child initiated experiences, and intentional teaching. I plan for the children’s learning based on their individual interests and needs, guided by the National Quality Standards, and the Early Years Learning Framework (the industry recognised and approved guideline to educating children in their early years). From the very first day your child commences care, they are developing skills they will needed to thrive at school. Children are offered participation in a School Readiness Program during their final year of care before school. Tissues, gloves, wipes, bed linen, blankets, wraps, bibs, and hand towels are all provided. I have named my service ‘Wise and Wonderful’. I believe that with a positive influence, the correct teaching, and enough love, children can grow into Wise and Wonderful humans. And isn’t that what we all want for our children? ABOUT MY FACILITIES:
Wise and Wonderful Family Day Care is located in Peakhurst. My service features a bright, modern indoor play space in the front of my home, solely used for Family Day Care purposes. Our indoor play area is connected to a modern bathroom and a separate sleep room for the children to use as needed. We have many resources for children of all ages that can be used both indoors and outdoors. Some of these include:
-Puzzles
-Craft supplies
-Dramatic play/dress ups
-Fine and gross motor toys
-Musical instruments
-Construction/blocks
-Baby toys
-An enormous book shelf filled with stories for children of all ages. Our spacious outdoor environment features natural grass, A-frames and balance boards, hoola-hoops, balls of all sizes, a wall-mounted chalkboard, a child-sized picnic table, and many other resources which allow the children to develop gross motor skills, social connections and emotional confidence.
