Let me ask you a question ... what does Success mean to you?
What would it look like, feel like, sound like ... even taste like?
Think about it for a moment, write it down, and then keep on reading.
*****
The two most common meanings of Success are ...
💥 Success meaning being financially prosperous. When you don't have to worry about money any more or think twice before spending it.
The Elon Musks and Richard Bransons of the world.
💥 Success meaning being famous or having celebrity status. Becoming a well known household name and being the authority or leader in your industry.
So the likes of a Toby Robbins in the personal development industry or a Tom Cruise or Cate Blanchett in the movie industry.
Did Money and/or Fame come into your meaning of Success?
By the way, there's no right or wrong answer.
Each of us will have a different answer to what Success means.
Being crystal clear on what Success means to you is critical to you achieving it.
And I'm going to challenge you to go deeper on this.
Look at what you wrote down. And then ask yourself 'Is there anything I can add to this?'
'Is this what Success truly means to me?'
For example, I was chatting to my marketing coach/business mentor recently. He told me that if he ever needed a life or mindset coach to help him navigate a big challenge in his life, that he would not hesitate to come to me.
Because in his eyes, I embody Success. And he didn't mean in the financial or celebrity status sense.
He meant in my ability [and success!] to overcome the major challenges in every area of my life - Career, Health, Family and Relationships (you'll remember in one of my recent posts that I shared with you the 4 major life changes I've been through ...].
Challenges that might have left a person floored, crippled, immobile and sunk.
And not just overcome them ... but be able to come out stronger, wiser and more content and at peace than I have ever been before.
So it got me thinking about what Success means to me ... 🤔
And I realised that it's not about the appearance of financial wealth or being famous, or having the house in an affluent suburb with water views, or being married with 2 kids and a dog and a white picket fence ...
It's about the courage, inner strength and wisdom to face whatever crap life throws at you, and then to navigate the 'sh -fest' by staying aligned with who you are and to emerge successfully from it, having kicked its ass (!!) and become so much stronger in every way.
Being true to myself and honouring the best and ultimate version of me.
Fulfilling my Purpose in life and making a positive difference to those around me.
Because it's not until you're tested ... and I mean truly tested in a life-altering, earth-shattering way ... that you can know your true abilities and worth.
And here's another tip 🏅 ... stop comparing yourself to other people!
Every time I see or hear someone talking or posting about how wonderful or amazing their life is with no mention of the struggles and challenges that were crucial to get them to where they are today, I switch off.
Because it's a veneer. A mask.
It's not real.
Not one of us goes through life without facing adversity.
And it would be false and misleading for anyone to make out if they did.
The people who I admire and have the most respect for are the ones who have the courage, grace and vulnerability to share the lowest of their lows and own it ... and how they were able to successfully navigate through these most difficult and sometimes traumatising times.
In my eyes, this is the mark of true Success.
