We're aware there is great demand and excitement for the return of driver testing. To manage expectations, we've outlined below the steps we're taking to re-introduce driver testing across the state:
โ
In the first instance, we are processing a backlog of priority tests. These are customers who need a test to keep their current licence such as aged assessments and customers who previously had a test booking.
โ
From there, tests will once again be made available online for customers to book - we will provide social media updates when this function is live. Please note there is a very significant number of customers who've been unable to book due to the restrictions in place, and we ask customers to be patient as booking availability will initially be limited. We expect online tests to become available before the end of the year.
โ
We've been limited in our preparation to recover this service given the COVID restrictions that impacted recruitment and training activities. We're currently operating at limited capacity as driver testers are required to be vaccinated. However, we're actively recruiting new driver testers now to better meet the high demand.
We know that for many of our customers, having to wait further for testing availability is frustrating and disappointing. Your patience and understanding are appreciated while our teams work hard to get this service back on track.

This is up on service nsw page for driving tests.
As of 11 October, weโre restarting our driver testing service across NSW.
In the first instance, we are reaching out to certain customers to rebook driver tests, such as those who require a test for medical reasons to maintain their licence and those who require an aged driver test that has been deferred. Those who previously had a booking when the service was suspended will be contacted following these customers. Your patience is appreciated as we navigate the high demand.
If you do not receive a call to reschedule your test over the coming weeks, please call our Contact Centre on 13 77 88 or visit a service centre to rebook your test.
You will be required to show proof of a double vaccination or of a negative Covid test result from a sample taken in the previous 3 days to sit your driving test.
