🌟 Celebrating John’s 80th Birthday🌟

John and I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for all the lovely messages about today’s article in the Telegraph and John's big 80th birthday! 🎉 Your support is appreciated.

While it’s tough to share that John’s health is deteriorating rapidly, trying to stay focused on the good times we’ve shared since we met in June 2013. 💖

On June 27th, I’ll be doing my 13th sleep-out since I met John in June 2013, on the green at Oak Flats Bowling Club. I invite you all to join us for a cozy night under the stars with movies! 🌌✨ Just bring a blankey and pillow!

🎉✨ Honored to be the chairperson and director of Easy Link Community Transport on the Northern Beaches of Sydney for the past nine years! This year's Christmas party was our largest ever, and it was a joy to celebrate the incredible workers and volunteers who make this vital service possible. 🚐❤️

This year alone, we completed 73,604 customer trips for 9,307 registered customers, ensuring they reach medical appointments, shop, and enjoy social events. Our service is not just about transportation; it’s about combating isolation and fostering community connection.

Well is been 12 years on 26th June since I answered a lost pet add in Sydney for a little dog called Carrie, who belonged to a homeless man, John.

Little did i know that simple gesture would see me become John and Carries guardian, so I could take them both off the streets. Who would have thought that day, that would become part of my family.

Sadly, Carrie passed away in her sleep in 2022, after spending the rest of her life being spoit and sleeping indoors. You have never seen a dog move so quick, in winter, when i opened the door for her to do her business….. she watched my every move and ran back in as if to say “ i dont do outside any more!” We miss her so much!

John is defying the odds and despite liver cancer diagnosis and treatment during covid, is going strong! He loves our weekly outing to the local bowlo!

With the economy the way it is, my heart drops for the increasing number, some whole families, those sleeping rough, in their car etc

I started doing the CEO sleepout about 12 years ago, have done every year and the last 3 with the management and board of Oak Flats Bowling Club! Carrie did the first one with me at the club, and John did the last one in in memory of Carrie.

This year , on 28th June…… I challenge you to grab your pillow and blankie…… and come and sleep out with us!…… otherwise we welcome your donations to the Vinnies Food Truck!
